Alessi A di AAM33 / 6 Moka Espresso Coffee Maker : Five Stars

Bought as a christmas present last year, and it is still in daily use now.

I have owned a number of stove-top espresso machines, and this is by far the best quality one i’ve owned. The bialetti ones (like so much of italian engineering) are just too shoddy a product for my liking. They are cheaply manufactured and seem to have no care taken over their production. I have returned them in the past due to sloppy production and dubious quality. The alessi, is however, a far superior product. The design is not the same – note the handle fastening, and the actual quality handle material. Make no mistake, the two manufacturers are not identical. And like most things in life, you get what you pay for – except that ironically, the bialetti ones can actually be more expensive. This high-quality product looks great, works well and carries alessi”s stamp of quality.

Excellent item, very pleased with this. Makes delicious coffee for one, perfect way to avoid drinking too much coffee in the morning in my opinion. I had a bialetti and i prefer this design.

Really nice espresso percolator. Lid is ever so slightly out of alignment but hey, it makes great coffee.

This esperesso maker is excellent. By far the best one i have purchased to date and i have been using espresso makers for nearly 25 years. Nice design and sturdy construction. Not flimsy like some other ones on the market. It also sits nicely on the burner due to its wider bottom.

Just right for a coffee for one person, tastes as a latte from costa.

Ideal size and very good quality.

Which i don’t hugely fancy, anyway. We had one of these stovetop types a dozen years ago, when we first started drinking lattes, etc. Now, i’ve gotten so accustomed to crema, that i find it nearly undrinkable. But my partner is very happy with it. And it’s a very cute, art-deco design.

Espresso coffee maker Moka Alessi

Moka Alessi was created out of the desire to pay homage to the classic moka designed in the 1930s and that has become a popular item over the years. Alessandro Mendini accepted the challenge of re-interpreting this cult object in a contemporary way. Moka Alessi has a formal character that can be immediately recognised, a round-shaped coffee pot that makes the vertical conicality of traditional moka sinuous. For every else, Mendini respected the details of traditional moka, trying to improve its technical aspects, for example by increasing the thickness of aluminium and optimising the capacity of the boiler. Moka Alessi contributes to the emergence of a new, intimate and homely ritual.

Alessigraphy: the geography of Alessi production

Since the Company’s foundation in 1921 the majority of Alessi products have been manufactured through the cold working of metals, a tradition that is kept alive today by the skilled workers at the Crusinallo plant in Omegna.

Over time, Alessi also began to work with many other materials, such as porcelain, glass, wood, and plastic… A specific production method was developed for each one. Even when production takes place outside the Crusinallo plant, Alessi’s guidelines guarantee the company’s original production quality standards, continuing to reconcile industrial technological complexity with an artisanal eye for detail.

The objects produced from the different materials are manufactured in various production plants across the world. They remain original Alessi objects in that they are conceived with the same design excellence and produced with the same attention to quality that sets the company’s products apart.
