Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X Open backed Hi-Fi headphones : Amazing headphones for gaming and music

Cons:these headphones have little bass, no warmth, they are not very good for music. Especially in this price range, there are competitors which blow these out the water. Although the pads are comfy i really don’t like the way they fit around your head, the 3d wing thing just feels like a silly gimmick they should get rid of, and all-round not a fan of the build quality. The treble is also quite harsh and can get annoying at times. I would not recommend these if you are planning on using them to listen to music or play a single-player game; with the latter, these will fail to give you any sense of immersion. Pros:the performance, my god it’s phenomenal. The mids it picks up is beautiful, but the soundstage; dear lord these headphones have the biggest soundstage i have ever heard from a pair of headphones. You can hear every tiny little detail down to the footsteps, perfectly clear in every single direction. If you are one of those people that look for every single competitive advantage they can find when playing multiplayer games (even at the cost of pure audio quality) you simply will not find better headphones than these. Conclusion: buy for competitive gaming, do not buy for anything else.

I am no expert, but these seemed to score very highly on all of the headphone review sites. Luckily i picked then up on offer. No complaints, they sound fine to me.

Really good sounding headset, bought mainly for gaming. Can hear great mid and high range which is fantastic. Only flaw is sits low on my head as can’t make it any smaller, although still comfortable.

Great build and love it for gaming.

. They just about don’t suck. So overall, these are 3 stars.

If you have a small head or even a regular head size this might not fit you well unless you make some small modifications. As far as sound quality goes it great especially if you have a sound card. The dual wing support is a joke they are far too weak to hold the headphones up most people use the rubber band mod to fix this issue. In my case i slightly bent the top support since the headphone dont have pivots so it does put a lot of pressure right under your ears. As far as comfort goes it is terrible when used without any adjustments (stock) sound quality is great it also has a huge sound stage which makes it great for gaming paired with a 5. 1 sound card these headphones are top notch. They are also ridiculously light i remember picking up the parcel it felt like i was carrying an empty box. Tl:dr who ever designed these headphones should go kill themselves but as far as sound quality goes its really good.

Amazing headphones for gaming and music. I wear mine over a snap back because i feel like they are too loose otherwise but they fit over my hat great.

  • Comfortable Fit with Quality, Balanced Sound
  • Sound great to my amateur ears.

After using these for a good two months i am beyond impressed, their open-air design makes everything sound natural. When listening to my music it sounds like the bands are playing around me and the audio doesn’t sound uncomfortable at all. Yes, they are lacking in bass, but you use a simple program to add a slight bass boost and they come alive in bass heavy music. Now for gaming they blow every gaming headset i’ve ever used out of the water, the direction sound in these make 7. 1 headsets sound terrible and you can hear everything clearly in games like pubg and bf1. They really give you an advantage in fps games. The only two problems i can find with them is that the cable isn’t removable however, i can’t see it breaking any time soon with how durable it is, and the other issue i see people having is that the wing design doesn’t work well with people who have smaller heads however if you get a band and put it between the wings to hold them together that fixes the issue. Yes, they are worth every penny in my opinion, however, if you want very bass heavy headphones then these aren’t for you, look at the closed back headphones that at provide.

Very good headphones for gaming as they have very low bass. Especially if you play fps games you can hear footsteps clearly & pinpoint enemy spots. Can’t recommend highly enough.

My old corsair vengeance 1500 broke after 3 years of use, and bought these audio technica. I use it to play games such as battlefield3/4. In addition to all types of music.

:)the sound quality of the ad700x surpasses every other set of headphones i’ve used so far, and is so good that i’d be happy to score these solid 4/5 alone. It feels well-balanced without overtuned bass or quietened treble, meaning all sounds of pitches are clear, and the open sound overall is incredible. The 5th star comes from the amazing fit, since these are incredibly comfortable to wear for both long and short durations, something i used to struggle with. I’m surprised that other headphones don’t use this design, since it works perfectly for these. They stay in place without being too loose or tight, and surround the ears without pushing on them. The only thing to note is that (as with all open open headphones) a lot of sound leaks out, so others nearby can hear what you’re listening to. Then again, if you’re already looking at headphones of this quality, then this is something you should know anyway. :>all in all, the £160 cost for me was 100% worthwhile, and i would happily buy another pair at the same price.
