Beyerdynamic DT770 M Headset : If you have quality source and Amp go for higher ohm models

They’re ok but i would recommend going to 250 ohm ones, at least 80 ohm ones as 32ohm dt’s are just to muddy for anything studio/pro/hifi related. Hence the mobile use reference. Bear in mind that this is review when you have quality source in use. I can write this below and then c/p to all my dt’s reviews:what is the difference between higher ohm and 32ohm dt headphones everyone is asking?which one should i choose?. Higher ohm ones have more quality, i want them. No, that is not completely true. Read below:32ohm =>if you listen to youtube/spotifyfree and you don’t have quality amp/dac then 32ohm dt’s will sound better and be better choice. Higher ohm=>if you have a good amp which can drive 100ohm+ headphones, you have a quality dac, you listen to at least 320kbit mp3’s, but usually flac/cd/dvd/tidal then yes, higher ohm headphones will sound better. Getting a quality dac and amp costs money (a lot of) so if you don’t have it and you don’t want to invest in it than skip higher ohm ones if you don’t listen to hq music.

After hours of trying to chose between the 80 ohm and 32 ohm i decided to go with the 32 ohm and i am delighted with these headphones. The best sounding headphones which i personally have tried. Bass, mids and treble are all crisp and clear. Listening to robert plant/alison krauss their vocals separate beautifully. The brushes on the symbols in herbie hancock:color and spark tingle crisply and the guitar/drum/bass combo in nirvana’s nevermind roar as intended. The dt770’s have the widest sound stage of any closed back headphone which i’ve tried. They are not noise cancelling however the isolation is very good and will block out 90% of sound. Comfort:the 32 ohm version come with pleather (fake leather) pads as opposed to the velour of the 80/250 ohm versions. After hearing raving reviews of the amazing comfort of the velour pads i was worried that the pleather would not live up.

Having owned a number of pairs of headphones over the years, i can safely say these are my favourite. These are german engineering at its best – well made, with interchangeable parts (so if you wear something out, you simply replace the part, rather than the entire unit). I’ve had mine a number of years now and they’ve lasted exceptionally well, still on my original headband, and while the padding is finally wearing on the ear cups, i have a backup set of cups ready to swap once they finally bite the dust. Comfort wise, these are excellent, have good isolation of sound (they are closed back after all); the headband has plenty of padding, the ear cups easily cover the ears with a nice velour padding to avoid chaffing, etc after long periods of use. They are a tad heavy (the trade off for well made kit), and do take a little getting used to if you’ve only ever used lightweight/cheaper headphones, but take it from me they are well worth getting used to. Anyway, these are headphones after all right; so what is the sound quality like?. Essentially, these are a fantastic set of headphones that, when used on their own sound pretty good, but truly come into their own when combined with a good quality dac and headphone amplifier – i’ve noticed new nuances and details in music that i’ve been listening for years, they have excellent separation and a deceptively large soundscape for a closed back pair of headphones. Bass is very clearly defined with no muddiness; it can range from boomy or soft nicely and (when paired with a good dac) has no perceivable clipping in the lower end and plenty of detail in the lows overall. Treble is nice with very little sibilance, there is plenty of detail here as well. My verdict: – stand-alone use is very good, with plenty of detail showing across the range, a good place to start with audio kit if your budget won’t stretch to additional kit as this will hold up well without an amp.

I bought these and chose them mainly thanks to the reviews, here and on other sites, but chose the 16 ohm very much because of comments made in the reviews here. I wear glasses, and consider myself to have a big head, and find many headphone uncomfortable and my ears reject plug in headphones very quickly. I wanted something to wear whilst gaming, and working on my pc which i could wear comfortably, and for extended periods. I’ve only had them a few days so far, but i’ve been really impressed. I’ve tried them via my ipad, mac and ps4 and the sound quality is great on all of them, and they are so comfy, i think i’ve gone at least a couple of hours with no discomfort what so ever, which is a major achievement for me. I also like these because they are purely black, but that’s a minor point. When playing music in the living room through them, my wife reports she can hear some of the sound if the tv is off, but if she is watching something they aren’t a distraction, but they can certainly be heard. For the wearer, external sounds are muffled instantly, but you do still have awareness of external sounds which can be a good thing sometimes.

Best wired headphones i have owned so far. Love the clarity and response. They can handle themselves amped up too. Very comfortable over long periods. I use them predominantly with my ps4 either gaming – including vr and they just clear the headband – perhaps a little too close though i am worried that repeated use with vr might result in damage to my phones (i’ll just buy another pair), or watching movies with my amp plugged in for extra crunch. They are quite large and the wire is quite long too.

Man, i haven’t been in love with a piece of hifi kit since i bought my eclipse td 510s. I’ve done a lot of bose, sennheiser, and other consumer gear, but these babies have just got all the cred, and more importantly all the sound. The first time you unpack them and see the no-nonsense look, the big-and-bad all-replaceable-parts look, you know you’re not talking about poser-gear here. It’s the diametric opposite. This is a sound-first machine. As pro gear, it also must be amazing value for money. You’ll get 5% better spending 5x as much, whereas you’ll get 80% worse spending 50% less.

Best soundstage in a closed back headphone i’ve heard you will instanly notice it. Good looking headphones, retro looking i love it. Built like a tank will last for a lifetime. Great audio quality very very accurate, bass is clear and punchy and has good extension, mids are a little recessed but still really good. Highs are clear and crisp although sometimes a little too harsh for me, i dunno maybe it’s just me or my music. 16ohms runs great on my samsung s8 and really gets deafening loud. I love the enormous ?velour ear pads. You can wear this hours on end without fatigue.

The best headphones that i’ve had the pleasure of using. They are so comfortable, the velour ear pads are very pleasant. The build quality is solid, the sound is amazing with a really punchy, strong bass and music, games and films sound amazing while using them. The packaging is first class, german engineering at it’s best.

Now just a disclaimer this could just be my bad luck for smashing mirrors as a child so take my review with a grain of salt. So i’m on my ummm 5th pair yep 5th pair of these now and i am going to repairing the pair i currently have too, i brought these headphones and loved everything about them the comfort, the sound signature for a closed back except the treble on the 250ohm version it’s quite sibilant when it comes to certain things like vocals but the bass kicks ass with how low extends combined with how emphasised it is whilst still being pretty clean so it’s definitely a v shaped headphone have no doubt about that. Now to the issues i’ve had with them which is channel imbalance in every pair i’ve had of them some pairs had the left driver louder whilst others had the right drivers louder so it’s not just me and on some pairs it’s in a certain frequency range. I’ve tried both the 80ohm and 250ohm versions of the headphone with the same issue recurring and i’m just at the point now i’ve had enough and am going to try different headphones options specifically sennheiser’s 600 range, this might just be a bad batch though so don’t let my review put you off the dt 770’s because if you get a good pair you won’t regret it. One final piece of advice when it comes to picking which ohm to choose it depends on your preferences if you love bass heavy headphones and are quite sensitive to treble go for the 80ohm version but if you want more detail and don’t mind the sparkly highs i’d recommend the 250ohm and it’s not that the 80ohm version doesn’t have detail or the 250ohm doesn’t have bass because they both do the two versions just have more or less of each when comparing directly to eachother. With all that in mind i hope my review was helpful to some of you.

So believe me when i say these blew me away. I found myself hovering over all the gaming headsets and thought 7. 1 surround sound is just a load of hype. So after carefully searching for the properties that mattered the most, i found many happy with the results so i smashed that button as £122 of hard earned cash suddenly vanished from my account. Then the headphones arrived i found they took a few days for me to understand what differentiates them from other cheap ones i bought previously. The immersion was very sudden all my music changed, game sessions seemed unique + great positioning with virtual surround sound and movies where by far the greatest plus for me personally as i felt more connected to moments i hadn’t before with basic tv sound. (i can now hear tom kirkman from designated survivor sniff freaking sniff. Its gonna be awesome when i begin editing youtube videos, shorts and maybe commercials who knows. What i do know these are the real deal.
