I love this little machine, let me tell you why. I’m american, my mother in law is english so naturally she thinks i know nothing and she knows everything. This particularly pertains to tea, since i arrived drinking southern iced cold tea and over the years have adapted to the proper english ways of tea. Not only is she a nightmare, she’s overbearing to the nth degree. She has chosen every kettle i’ve had, because being a dumb american i just couldn’t possibly 🤣 everyone one of those kettles has broken before their 1 year anniversary. I’ve learned now, the way to truly annoy this woman successfully is to purchase things she knows nothing of. It’s easy to use, and has an automatic stop button which is handy. I haven’t had any issues with leakage or condensation. The water tasted fine straight out of the box.
Best features are the ability to vary the amount of hot water dispensed and being able to stop the flow instantly. We bought this to replace out kettle and so my disabled 10 year old daughter could be more independent, she could not lift a conventional kettle. I love the blue light when switched on, makes it easy to see it is heating, although as it takes less than a minute to dispense the water you barely see it on for long. The cut off for the water is instant. Yes it does splash a little ( an i mean a few drops which are never a burn risk) but the convenience of it is brilliant. And the water is hot , i measured it at 92 degrees and i know a lot of other similar dispensers fail to heat the water to near boiling. I have not found any problems with a plastic taste. It saves us money as my husband now prefers using instant coffee from this dispenser to using his tassimoit also has a slightly larger footprint than a kettle but i was surprised at how compact it is. I would say if you are looking for a hot water dispenser then you can’t go far wrong with the breville.
I’m just about to order this again as my first one has broken and noticed it was 18 months ago that i bought the first. The plastic release catch for the lid has broken and i can’t see a way to fix or replace it. The machine itself is still working fine. I’m ordering the exact same one as it’s the only ‘one cup’ water dispenser i’ve used that actually makes a hot cuppa. It isn’t quite as hot as a kettle but it’s close enough for me and better than any other i’ve tried. I love how fast it is, especially that first cup in the morning. I love that unlike a kettle, i’m not lifting it and pouring boiling water, no risk of spilling from a spout. Saving money on electric and water bill is also a nice bonus.
Lovely freedom to make tea / coffee whenever you like. I particularly like being able to change the cup size setting for different mugs and cups.
Who wants to reheat the same water 3 or 4 times before actually using it?. Seems silly and it is when you can have one of these. It’s quick, it’s efficient and it just looks better. I also use this to pre heat my coffee cups.
The adjustable cup feature is a must without it i could see myself pressing the start button and walking off. At the outset there was definitely a ‘tang’ to my drinks, so i put some bicarb through the machine ( tip from another reviewer) which solved the problem. The drinks are not absolutely boiling (not hot enough for noodles) i like my drinks hot, they are hot enough as long as you don’t leave them standing around. I fill my machine with a plastic jug. I used to over fill, boil the kettle and walk off, i would do this at least three times before i actually made a drink. The breville solves both of those problems, saving time and money. I have this machine for almost a year and use it daily. Highly recommended for an office/shop environment or for one or two persons at home. I managed to get an excellent warehouse deal.
My daughter bought this for me for my birthday to go with my new kitchen. At first i can not get used to having to wait for the water to boil , but after a week i got used to it. This is i have a 4 litre kettle ( bought in hong kong ) so i always have hot water. Advantage:the kettle boil very hot water for my tea. The water reach a higher temper then my old electric kettle ,when the water has reach temperature, it pour into the cup (or any containers )you place below- i like this. A stop button to stop the water in mid stream to stop over fill. Varies volume of water to be dispense when boiled for better control. The drip tray can be removed if you have a taller cup. It claim to save electricity as it boil what you want. – the main attraction for me. ]
