Caudalie Vine[ACTIV] Skincare Review | The Good & The Bad

Caudalie is a brand I’ve not had much experience with – in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever tried anything from their array of skincare ranges before, yet my cupboard seems to be full with samples. So, today I’m finally writing a review for some Caudalie skincare I was kindly sent, to help kick-start the start of my (hopefully good) skincare experience with the name. One of their latest ranges is the Vine[ACTIV] skincare collection. The collection includes a serum, moisturiser, an eye cream and an oil – four of the best skincare products you could use to really boost your skincare game. Which one’s my favourite? Let’s find out…Caudalie Vine[ACTIV] Skincare Review

What has the range been designed for?
Your lifestyle. Simple as that. External aggressions such as pollution, stress, smoking and even your diet, can all have a negative impact on your skin’s overall condition and appearance. Then again, many skincare brands say they help to defend you from these effects, but the Caudalie Vine[ACTIV] range is aimed more at preventing life’s aggressions taking full control. How and why?

Caudalie share an interesting statistic; between the ages of 20 and 33, your skin’s elasticity reduces by around 10%. Additionally, the concentration of vitamins C and E drops by around 30-40% with age. Due to the fast and hectic urban life many young women tackle each day in today’s world, their natural defense system struggles to cope. What happens? Your skin cells start to burn out, which results in the skin affects we don’t welcome – dull complexion, fine lines and wrinkles.

Glow Activating Anti-Wrinkle Serum
This is the most concentrated product in the range and should be applied both morning and evening. Apply it before the moisturiser for the best results – supposedly. In all honesty, I’m not a serum kind of gal. Then again, is anyone? It’s not the fact that it’s an extra step in your skincare routine that you wish you didn’t have to take, but it’s more because I’ve never seen any benefits from using them. I tried the Neroli Collection by Super Facialist later last year and even with their range, the serum just wasn’t for me.

However, with this serum, it’s a preventer and not a reducer. Its purpose isn’t to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (at the age of 24, I do notice these mainly around my eyes – but technically, they’re called laughing lines, right?). Instead, the aim is to prevent these from appearing overtime, so long as you stick to using the product – so don’t be surprised if you don’t feel like you’re seeing any results. One thing you can expect from using this serum though, in my experience, is soft skin. Not quite ‘as soft as a baby’s bottom‘ kind of soft, but noticeably smoother.

3-in-1 Moisturiser
I have very dry skin that becomes flaky again just one day after exfoliating, so moisturisers are probably one of the most important skincare products I buy. My major issue with moisturisers though, is they are never quite thick enough for me. I don’t cake it on, as it can leave my skin feeling greasy, but lightweight moisturisers simply don’t cut it for my dry skin, which is why this one doesn’t work for me. It feels lovely and hydrating when I first apply it, but I don’t feel like my skin has benefited from it anymore than a bog standard £2 cream.

Energising & Smoothing Eye Cream
Since using the Clinique All About Eyes Eye Cream, I’m never skipping eye cream again. I love the Clinique one – it’s hydrating, soothing and genuinely works at reducing puffiness around my eyes in the morning. Plus, it makes the concealer under my eyes look flawless! But, sadly, that eye cream has nearly vanished, so I’ve welcomed the Energising & Smoothing Eye Cream by Caudalie with welcome arms! However, this doesn’t compare to the Clinique Eye Cream. Sure, it makes the skin around my eyes supple all-day long, but it offers nothing to reduce the puffiness or dark circles when I’ve had a restless night.

Overnight Detox Oil
Even if you have oily skin, I genuinely believe this facial oil would still be great for you to use; it’s super lightweight and non-greasy, absorbing quickly into the skin. I apply this in the evening after I’ve cleansed and in the morning my skin feels super soft and hydrated with a glow. I’d say if you’re going to try anything from this range, the Overnight Detox Oil is the best one. Works a dream!
