Cuisinart EM1000U Veloce Fully Bean to Cup Coffee Machine : Easily makes very good coffee

This is a very stylish and user friendly coffee machine, which grinds the beans and produces coffee to individual taste. You can choose between americano, cappuccino, latte, espresso, or according to you own specification. You can choose coffee strength, proportion of coffee to milk, amount of froth and you can save your favourites. There are 4 memory settings. You can choose the size of the cup and alter the dispenser to the height of the cup too, and all of these choices are easy to make using a simple touch screen and for the first few times, a comprehensive and easy to follow instruction booklet. The separate milk container, with its own freezer pack to keep milk cold, is easily kept in the fridge to keep milk from ‘going off’ the milk container is connected to the main unit by a small tube which feeds the milk through, but which can’t be seen when the main unit and the milk unit are in position. The machine largely cleans itself – there is no mess at all after making coffee, and the machine goes through its own cleaning routine every time it is switched on. We have so far succeeded in making very nice coffee from beans. It is also really easy to use pre ground coffee. This is a really quality, up market coffee machine which looks great, doesn’t take up too much space and, most importantly, makes great coffee.

Excellent device works like a charm.

This is a very nice coffee maker, beautifully styled and surprisingly compact – we had rejected this kind of machine a few years ago as they were generally too wide and we have a pretty compact kitchen. But the main part of this is only 20cms wide with a further 10cms from the separate milk compartment. (but more of that later)we have previously owned a tassimo machine, which we eventually got rid of because of the extreme difficulty of recycling the pods, and a wonderful de longhi dedica, which reliably makes terrific, benchmark coffee but is not automatic: a grinder and maybe a milk frother are required. (the dedica has a steam spout, but its use for a reasonable quantity of milk leaves the machine needing a long pause before it’s ready to deliver more cover. )the cuisinart styling gives this machine clean lines and an emphasis on smooth flat surfaces which make it easy to clean, and the very good integrated grinder means no spilled grounds or stray beans to clean up: with this, surrounding work surfaces remain perfectly clean. The controls via a touch pad are described as ‘intuitive’ which is a bit of a stretch: you really do need to look at the lengthy manual pretty carefully, though there is a quick start guide which will deliver nice coffee. But my guess is you’ll want to tweak and explore. Temperature (more of that later), strength, drink volume, ratio of milk to coffee, kind of coffee (espresso, latte, americano and capuccino) plus carafe rather than cup options, hot water options and ground coffee use are all possible. There is also the possibility to save a favourite: so, for example, if you like a cappuccino with lots of froth, with a volume of 200ml at medium strength and with an 80% to 20% coffee to milk ration, then you can save that. But, unless i’m missing something, if another person in the family likes a slightly differently balanced cappuccino it’s not possible to have a second version saved.

This is a really good quality coffee machine. Which for the price you’d expect. It has so many options you can make your perfect coffee exactly the way you want it. It really is bean to cup every time you want a coffee as the machine will only grind how much it needs to once you’ve chose your coffee type. Freshly ground every time, it’s fantastic. From the settings menu you can select how fine you want your beans ground to how hot you want it. The machine comes a ph strip to test the hardness of your water. You then select the hardness of your water on the machine so when the time comes your machine will let you know when it’s time to de-scale. Harder water areas will mean your machine will need cleaning sooner than non hard water areas. Cleaning solution for your first one is provided.

We are massive coffee drinkers in our house so i was super excited to get this. We’ve been using capsules for about six years. Before that i had a baby gaggia where you had to do all kinds of things to get it to work and it was a pain, hence the reason switching to a capsule coffee machine but i’ve been looking to switch to a bean to cup machine. This is a pretty hardcore machine for proper coffee drinkers. It’s quite similar to the machines you find in small offices. It doesn’t take pods but beans. The water tank isn’t huge but good for a round of drinks. Obviously, you can use lots of different beans and you can customise your drinks to the nth degree should you wish. If you just want to know if this is a good machine and whether to invest in one:once you’ve set this up, which takes a little bit of time but not much, it’s a doddle to use. Being able to customise your drink is probably the biggest advantage of this machine over something like a capsule machine.

We come to this having previously used an espresso machine which we very much enjoyed. I have to say that this is a whole league up from there and addresses most of the issues we had with the previous machine. This machine uses whole beans rather than ground coffee. You fill a reservoir with them and it will let you know when you have run out. You have a similar container for water, a waste container for the ground beans and a waste water container. You do not have to fill/empty each of these each time you use the machine although the more you use it the more often you will have to deal with these things. The water runs out the most. The machine uses a touch screen display. It comes with a really good instruction manual for which the manufacturers are to be commended – so many these days are impenetrable. We wanted a full mug, rather than a cup and we were able to programme the machine to do this and to keep it as a default setting.

My experience of coffee machines is not great, in fact it is confined to coffee shops and those belonging to friends. My usual brews are done in a cafetière and i have always shied away from purchase of a dedicated machine. I feel the variety of coffees to be far too restrictive with the capsule type coffee maker, and being tied to one type of capsule is not a happy state despite mr crow’s appealing advertising. This machine is a bean to cup jobbie, throw in the beans – enjoy the coffee – i can use any bean i fancy, or i can also use pre-ground packs. This is a much more appealing scenario, and probably cheaper on the grocery bill too, though i admit to not doing any research into the validity of the costs. This machine does everything i want. It grinds, roasts and quickly heats the water. Almost everything is adjustable from the size of the granules, the strength of the coffee, to the water or milk temperature, frothy milk is also available for lattes. It even has an ice-cooled milk container. And all this control is achieved via a touch screen.

If you are keen on real coffee, you must have thought about getting a bean-to-cup automatic coffee machine. So how does the cuisinart veloce measure up?. Out of the very substantial and protective packing i drew the coffee machine in glossy black plastic – i think it is tough abs. Then there is a milk container nearly half the size of the machine, some cleaning items and a measuring spoon. The machine is more compact than some that i have looked at, but it won’t quite go under my kitchen wall units, because there isn’t enough space to open the coffee bean compartment on the top. It is a restrained, tasteful design, not pretending to be some sort of coffee bar equipment. Coffee beans go in the compartment on the top, 1. 25 litres of water goes in the pull-out tank and we are ready to brew. Switch on and the machine squirts about 100ml of hot water through the outlet to clean it.

  • Excellent bean to cup machine – if you can wait, and can justify the price!
  • Quick and Mostly Hassle Free.
  • OK coffee, but potentially dangerous, poor value. Disappointing.

The water tank and used coffee grounds can be accessed from the front and emptied with ease, as can the drip tray.

Before and after each round of drinks, it will run its own auto clean, rinsing itself using water from the built in water tank – you don’t have to lift a finger. If you make a drink using milk, the screen will prompt you to pop the end of the milk tube into some clean water so the machine can rinse through all parts that come in contact with milk.

Deeper cleans such as descaling and cleaning the coffee system are required from time to time, but you’ll be taken through the entire process by the easy to follow guide on screen. There are only a handful of removable parts, so even when these need cleaning, it’s super easy to put back together. There is even a handy cleaning and maintenance guide tucked behind the drip tray so you’ll always have instructions to hand if you need them.

Not that impressed, why make it slim and then strap a tank to it?. We have a de longhi and siemens machine ( two homes ) it is not fair to compare with the siemens as it is much more expensive, but the other yes. I dont like the milk container, others have a plug in jug, which is integral to the machine, neater and more practical. For milk much better to put the tube straight into a tetrapak or plastic milk carton ( no cleaning) the milk tube cleaning is a faff compared to de longhi where you press a button and it uses its own water. Boy is it complicated to set up, you need to reserve a wet day and a teenager for it. The grinder is much noisier than othersour de longhi is ten years old and has had many expensive repairs and it now has to go, i wonder what the repair situation on this machine is, because all makes are complicated and will go wrong, but it does have a three year warrantee which is very good. Negative pointshate the milk containermilk pipe cleaning needs separate cup of watergrinder noisycomplicated to set upplus pointscan use a milk carton straight out of the fridgethree year warranteeonce set up the touch screen is goodvalue for money?. Yes on a par with othersdoes it make good coffee?.Well actually yes it does, which in the end is what it is all about.

Using the machine is actually very intuitive, and a lot less complicated than the instruction booklet makes it seems. It is quick, for example, it makes a 200ml americano from start to finish in under 90 seconds. You can alter the fineness of the grind (there is also the option to use pre-ground beans), the strength, the temperature and the quantity of coffee easily, as well as pre-setting favourites. The only thing i don’t like about the interface is that there is no conformation button, you just select your drink and it makes it if you don’t cancel or alter within 8 seconds. The drinks it can make are americano, espresso, cappuccino, latte, hot milk, frothed milk and just hot water. I don’t consume dairy, so i can’t judge how it performs with it, but it also works with dairy alternatives like almond or coconut milk. It automatically rinses each time you turn it on, and when you turn it off, which i find a bit excessive, as one or the other would probably do. Most of the cleaning is performed by the machine, although some of the deeper cleaning is done manually and is a bit finicky.

I was delighted to receive this rather expensive bean to cup coffee machine made by cuisineart. It looks great in shiny black plastic and it’s relatively compact for a kitchen top – even with the optional milk container parked next to it. Personally i find that using a small plastic milk bottle from the fridge next to it is just as handy and uses even less space. The supplied milk container with freeze pack would be great for family events when you expect to be serving quite a lot of coffee. It’s quite easy to use – and once you ‘ve done a walk through with the excellent quick start guide to make you first coffee, it’s all quite instuitive with the touch screen guiding you through the options from choosing your kind of coffee from expresso to cappuccino, with options for temperature, coffee strength and amount of milky foam. There is also a more extensive handbook to guide you through the extensive functions and particularly to help with cleaning and maintenance, though much of the latter is automatic. My coffee, expresso or cappuccino, was as i like it – both hot and strong, once i had selected the highest temperature and the maximum strength. I must confess to liking an extra shot – which is possible by going back to the coffee selection screen and chosing an expresso, so long as your cup is big enoughmy biggest gripe is the length of time the machine takes. It starts up with an auto cleaning process – though you can use this hot water to warm your cup before dispensing with it. In total, my medium sized cup of cappuccino with an extra shot of expresso takes nearly five minutes though you don’t need to hang around for the last minute as the machine completes its cleaning cycle.

Please read the manual first to avoid possible unexpected scalding danger. Don’t get me wrong, the cuisinart em1000u is not a bad machine at actually making a cup of coffee, despite being an ugly lump of un-ergonomic plastic with a low definition, temperamental touch-screen and an add-on chilled milk container that just leaves you thinking ‘why?’we love coffee. One of us is a trained barista, but the idea of just pressing a button and having a coffee made without any fuss first thing in the morning appealed to us. Alas, it wasn’t to be with this machine. First there is the 70+ page manual to read and one does need to read it. For example, just turning it on starts an automatic cleaning cycle that will release hot water, and if you select a type of coffee from the menu but spend too long examining the options it will start making a coffee without you pressing the go button. Yes, it does tell us about these ‘features’ in the manual. The manual details all the possible options you have in designing your perfect coffee.
