De’Longhi Autentica ETAM 29 : Best coffee machine

Great price, smaller than most.

I love a good coffee but had never progressed past instant coffee in my home – this bean to cup machine has changed that. Indeed i’m going to have to limit myself to prevent being over caffeinatedthis delonghi machine is easy to use – i followed the set up instructions and after taking a while to understand the “standby” mode for setting water softness and water temperature (leave the switch on the side on but not the power switch on the top) i was soon enjoying my first amazing coffeemy recommendation would be to take time to set your preferred coffee strength, water temperature and water softness prior to starting – as if you are anything like me once you have an appliance working you rarely go back to read the instruction manual. Delonghi have a “coffee club” which you can join by completing the enclosed application form or simply download the app – lots of ideas about recipes etc. I used coffee beans but you can use pre-ground coffee too – i am amazed at the aroma the freshly ground coffee is producing – the kitchen smells amazing. There is a handy drip tray which alerts when getting full so no worries about water leaking over your counter. The grounds are collected behind the drip tray so emptying them both is easy and saves a double job. There is a milk steamer to make frothy cappachinos and a water heater for making teas. The instruction manual is detailed and easy to follow – a water filter is also included although i am using filtered water so probably won’t use another in the machine. Full cleaning instructions are included and the machine will alert when needing descaling. If you are unsure about your local water softness a test strip is included to enable you to test – this was incredibly easy to do.

This is a very impressive machine, as it should be for the price. It’s a full bean-to-cup machine (though you can use ready-ground if you prefer) so it’ll do everything for you automatically. It takes a fair while to set it up, but once it’s up and running it’s pretty easy to use and it makes lovely drinks. People seem to disagree about the size of this machine – i would say it’s actually very compact for a machine of this type – bean-to-cup machines always take up the most room but this is about as compact as you’ll get. It’s certainly smaller in width and about the same in depth as a small microwave, if a bit taller, so it should squeeze into all but the smallest of kitchens. It does a standard espresso, a double espresso and a “long” one which recreates filter coffee, which i far prefer to the ridiculous “americano” concept of watered-down espresso. The included pipe for making frothed milk means you can do lattes and cappuccinos so this machine will do any coffee-based drink you’d need. It’s not excessively noisy when grinding beans but it’s pretty loud when actually dispensing the coffee itself, and it’s fairly slow. Cleaning isn’t the best as the drip tray and grounds holder aren’t dishwasher-safe, and it can be awkward getting all of the drip-tray cleaned – i used a baby’s bottle brush to make sure i got into the corners to ensure it was clean. Overall it could be a little quieter and easier to clean but these are pretty minor quibbles.

We are so happy with new coffee machine.

One of the selling points i took from this item was that it doesn’t take up much space in your kitchen. That’s a lie; this machine is definitely on the large size, and takes up a fair portion of my already small worktop. That said, it does look pretty swish, so i think we can live with it. I’ve got in my kitchen already a bosch tassimo pod machine, and also a krups dolce gusto pod machine. Of those two, the krups machine got my vote for nicest coffee, despite costing twice as much as the bosch. This one costs around four times more than that one again, so the coffee would need to be pretty impressive. As it is, the coffee does come across as very akin to the coffee you would be served in your local coffee shop, i take mine neat, which is very simple to make; the water dispenser can be moved up or down to make for a creamier head on your drink, and you can make it using beans or ground coffee, depending on what you have in at the time. I have to say, if i’m spending £400+ on a coffee maker, i’m wanting it to crush the beans for me, so thanks for the ground coffee option, but i’m using beans as much as i can here. The machine also comes with a nice little milk frother / steamer nozzle, which is good for those of you who like a nice cappuccino or the like. I’m going to be using this to make babyccinos for the kids.

This is a replacement for a previous grind and brew which i had to return as stoped working. This make came highly recommended from friends and online reviews were excellent for this particular make and model. Easy to unpack and put together. After the first few uses adjusting the grind and quantity it makes a fantastic coffee. Easy to clean and fill and doesn’t take up a lot of space as previous ones i’ve had have.

Had this since christmas and have been very impressed so far, easy to use and clean. The coffee it produces is very good and the milk steamer produces a great foam. Just had it’s first descaling which after 7 months use is pretty good. I have been very impressed with this machine, highly recommended.

Brilliant coffe machine the black version which we have looks stunning, really high end. Makes delicious coffee with ease and it’s super easy to maintain. Its a bit expensive but we recovered our money in a few months. Both myself and my misses drink around 10 coffees a week , usually from costa or starbucks. Now because we just make it yourself as it’s just as good as the one from the shops. Also my neighbour has an incentive to visit me now.

So glad i finally decided on this machine instead of some of others. So easy to use and makes great coffee. Also youtube has a load of how to use videos on this model which are very helpful to use the device properly. Bought mine for £250 in the debenhams sale.

Small footprint, easy to use and most importantly, makes great coffee. Minor niggles are that the drip tray fills up too quickly and the water tank is quite small.
