De’Longhi Fully Automatic Bean to Cup Coffee Machine ECAM22 : One of the best coffees I have ever tasted – at a price

It’s the best thing i ever did. What a complicated technology yet so simple to use. No more costa we have our own costa at home.

320sb is one of those are rare purchases in that it really does do ‘what it says on the tin’, namely make coffee as good as the best high street coffee shops (i consider costa’s coffee to be the best available from a chain). It has been a very satisfying buy all round. Any caveats i may have had have been so small that it would not be fair to give less than 5 stars: after all, nothing is perfect. For example, i did spend quite a while when i first had the machine trying to follow the instruction on how to remove the steamer head for cleaning, but i think it’s more my over literal mind. I feel it should say ‘grip the steam head tightly and move to the left to remove’, not just ‘move steam head to the left to remove’. Yes, i know, it’s probably just meone of the complaints from a reviewer was about the need to empty the drip tray every day because of the flushing sequences when powering up and down. This can be avoided very simply by using a container (a small jug or spare espresso cup under the spouts) to catch these and emptying them each time. I only empty the drip tray when emptying the grounds tray. Similarly, the complaint about the auto turn off is puzzling.

Had this machine now for nearly a month and have to say i’m very impressed. I am a big latte fan and making one with this machine is a breeze. The milk frother is excellent making very hot milk and it is easy to adjust the nozzle depending on how much froth you require. Also very easy to clean and maintain i couldn’t be happier.

This is the best coffee machine i have ever owned. The coffee tastes delicious. I love this machine and it does the majority of things it self.

Bought one of these and used for 10 months so far. Expensive for a very occasional coffee drinker, but the end product is actually one of the best cups of coffee i have ever tasted, so no regrets. On the downside, coffee perfection aside, it is not extremely well made – perhaps an example of italian style over practicality. For example, the drip tray arrangement is extremely flimsy, and you need to be fairly gentle putting it back in after cleaning (there are several projecting pieces of flimsy plastic that operate sensors, one broke off leaving the machine worthless until fixed by a local repair shop). Aside from that minor criticism, i will never go back to my previously loved tassimo.

Best spot purchase in a long time. Sunday morning lie-ins now consist of a newspaper and a cappuccino for me and a long black americano for hubby and in the winter, when its blowing a gale out and the rain is thundering down its spent in front of our wood burning stove. The coffee is as fresh and hot as our favourite coffeehouse and just as smooth and lovely as their coffee. We use it for coffee before work, then to make one to take to work and then in the evenings so it gets hammered. Spend a little bit of time adjusting the settings to your taste such as water temperature, coffee strength etc and i always buy the best organic coffee beans i can buy – it makes a huge difference. I also use the hot water only function to make cups of tea and i use the boiling water for cooking such as gravy. I no longer have a kettle as this machine does it all. I’d highly recommend buying this machine, bin your kettle and enjoy lazy coffee moments. We have had ours for a year with no faults or issues and it really does get a hammering.

A superb coffee maker, with great design and convenience improvements over the earlier model we had. It’s worth taking a little time learning to get the best out of it. Here are the results of a great deal of experimentation, using the same beans as an outstanding local coffee bar and attempting to get the closest match to what comes of their professional machines. A single shot from a professional espresso machine typically contains about 10g of ground coffee, and a double shot 18-20g – anything up to double the amount that a home machine will take. The water temperature, pressure and circulation are also much more even, so no home machine will ever quite match what you get in a good coffee house. This machine has a lot of scope for adjusting the settings, but offers 4 basic progammes: 1 short coffee (a small espresso shot, approx. 6-7g of ground coffee) 1 long coffee (as above, but with more water: ‘cafĂ© allongĂ©’) 2 simultaneous short coffees as above (total approx. 2 long coffees as above: a smallish ‘americano’. There is a 5th programme: a separate ‘long coffee’ function, which cycles automatically through two double shots to produce a reasonable sized americano. Purists will tend to avoid this, however, as it passes a lot of water very slowly through the grounds to extract the maximum from them, and in the process it brings out the coarser flavour notes that a skilled barista tries to leave behind.

A good machine that produces nice coffee. It is a bit worrying that so much water passes into the tray when the coffee is being ground. Delonghi say that this is ok.

The coffee is pretty good (of course a lot of this has to do with what beans you choose to buy) but the machine has to do a rinse routine when you first turn it on and again when it turns off. That takes a while to do which is frustrating in the mornings when you just want coffee. No way to override it either. Water tank is so small considering how large the machine itself is and with all the self rinsing it likes to do,i am constantly having to refill the tank, approx after ever 3 mugs of coffee. Water filter replacements aren’t cheap and has to be done pretty often. I like the milk steamer feature which works very well so that’s a plus. For the price of the machine it’s not as fantastic as i expected.

I have bought 2 of these, and we use them at work (each has around 10-20 users). Makes a good cup of coffee, easy to use milk frother, easy to clean. It’s crucial to descale it regularly, or the heater block will clog (although it’s replaceable). Water filters can be quite expensive but they’re optional. We’ve had this a for a couple of years, and it’s still going strong. As with any bean-to-cup machine, the first cup of coffee of the day can be a little stale, so if you only have one cup a day, either discard the first one, or get a separate grinder.

Now that i’ve worked out all the controls and combinations, this machine makes a great coffee. I’m having to restrain myself from drinking too many cups.

I’ve had this machine for over a year and it has never let me down. It produces fantastic coffee. I’ve followed all instructions regarding cleaning, descaling and changing the water filter with ease.

This machine is seriously wonderful.

Produces a lovely creme on top when making an espresso. Frothing the milk is quick and fun to produce top quality lattes. All in all well worth the money.
