During a period where I lived a matter of just 20 minutes from work, I was fairly productive in the mornings. I could wake up at a reasonable time and still have 30-45 minutes of my own time to do what I want, without tiring myself out by waking up stupidly early just to do these things.
However now I’m in a new job, new location and it takes me roughly an hour to get to work. eurgh. Having to get up even earlier than before just to get ready on time is not fun, but I started to lose that morning productivity I once always had. So, I’ve teamed up with Nestlé to try out their new granola cereal; Shreddies MAX ™ to help kick-start my mornings and give me that boost of energy I want to get back to help me crack on with my day.

My lunch breaks and evenings are taken up by blog work, but I’d like to be able to set aside some me time in the evenings to help me wind down and relax. Therefore, I set myself the challenge to wake up 30 minutes early each morning throughout this last week, helping myself to a bowl of Shreddies MAX ™ to kick-start my new morning blog session.
Here’s what I thought:
I’m not going to lie, the first morning or two was difficult. Half an hour may not seem like a big time difference to some, but it was tough on my body – especially now the mornings are getting colder! Albeit, I made myself get into the routine of switching on the heating the moment I get up, make myself a morning cuppa and pour myself a bowl of Shreddies MAX ™. I then sit at the dining table with my laptop and new morning cereal, put Radio 1 Breakfast Show on and start checking all my blog emails, responding to comments, checking social media and getting together a few ideas for upcoming blog posts. The routine alone was enough to get me started and feeling more productive, but ensuring that I’m eating well first thing in the morning helped massively. I can easily skip breakfast due to not having the time to sit and eat, or simply not having the appetite for it. However since having a bowl of Nestlé‘s new granola, I’ve found I have more energy throughout the morning and I’m full all the way through to lunch which has prevented me from snacking too – something which I’m very guilty of.
By the end of the week-long challenge, I found I have become far more productive in the morning time which has also helped for when I arrive at work, as I’m already rearing to crack on with the day’s agenda.
