In-Depth Morning & Evening Skincare Routine for Dry Skin

Over the last 4 months I’ve stuck to the same skincare products and brands, simply because I found a range of products and a routine that was finally benefiting my skin to some extent. I have a fair amount of skin concerns, but dry skin is my number one worry; no matter how tough my exfoliator is, or how often I exfoliate, moisturise and keep hydrated, my skin will always remain patchy. For anyone who suffers with this or worse, you will probably understand that not only does this have an impact on your confidence, but also affects the way your makeup looks.

Now I know the makeup should be the least of my worries, and it is, but on those days that you’d simply like to dress up and slap a bit of makeup on, foundation will never look good. No matter how you apply it. I’ve tried using my hands, various makeup brushes and of course the good ol’ dabbing technique with a beauty blender. These application methods work wonders for many but if my dry skin finally had a solution to remove the ‘patchy-ness’, then I’d be laughing.

I’ve reviewed the odd skincare product on the blog before, but none have remained as a product that I’d re-purchase so to speak. But since trying the Bamboo Waterlock Hydro-Plumping Mask* and Pore Minimising Serum Powder Effect Essence*, these will firmly remain in my skincare range from this day forward. That’s a bold statement based on just a week’s trial, but these two products have been a game-changer for my skin and I’ll explain why.Erborian-bamboo-waterlock

My Morning Skincare Routine

I have the same routine morning and night, but I apply the Bamboo Waterlock differently in the morning than I do in the evening. That’s the only difference.

Firstly, I cleanse my skin with the Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Cleansing Milk. I apply 2-3 pumps of this and massage into dry skin, then wet my hands and massage my skin again, mainly targeting my t-zone before washing off with warm water. Never use hot water, as this will dry your skin out. I then follow up with applying a thick layer of the Bamboo WaterlockHydro-Pumping Mask* and leave this on for 10 minutes.

This is a light gel-formula that is a wonderful green colour which is different to other products I’ve used before. It contains complex bamboo fibres and sap which help to moisturise your skin and give it that plumped appearance for healthy, hydrated skin. Once the 10 minutes are up, I rinse away with warm water once again. I pat my skin dry with a clean towel before applying my daily moisturiser; L’Oréal Triple Active. The mask leaves your skin feeling plump, hydrated and so smooth. I’ve also noticed over the last week that any blemishes and redness that’s usually visible, has been reduced. My skin is just prone to blemishes, but not necessarily spots, so I don’t think any product will solve this 100%, but this one has done the bets job so far.erborian-seve-de-bamboo

Last but most certainly not least, I finish off with 3 drops of the Pore Minimising Lotion*. I massage this into my t-zone area first, as this is the area where I am mainly affected by large pores, and massage any excess product into other areas of my face. I was put off by the fact the packaging screams ‘Matte’ at first, but this is an extremely hydrating formula that provides a non-drying matte finish due to its superb powder effect essence. It’s genius in my eyes. The lotion almost acts as a primer for your makeup, but on those days where I want to go all-out, I even use a pore-minimising primer on top which gives unbeliveable results! The one I use is The Body Shop Wonderblur Primer.

My Evening Skincare Routine.
Like I mentioned before, my evening skincare routine is exactly the same as my morning routine. The only difference is the way I apply the Bamboo Waterlock mask. Instead of applying a thick layer, leaving it on for 10 minutes and then rinsing, I simply massage a thin layer on to my face and leave it to soak in overnight. This leaves my skin feeling super smooth and refreshed come the morning, hence the reason I apply it this way.

The Verdict.
I’ve never gone so in-depth about my skincare routine before, but I myself know how useful these blog posts are when you suffer with the same skin issues. For anyone who suffers with dry but also sensitive skin, I can highly recommend giving these two products a try. If not both, then I recommend the Bamboo Waterlock Mask as a stand-alone product.

Before trying these products I was exfoliating twice a week, with no effective results, but have since been able to ditch this step. I’ve not exfoliated once throughout this skincare trial with Erborian, which is why I am so shocked by the results. As for makeup application, my foundation has never looked better. I’m now left with a dewy complexion and my foundation looks so smooth on the skin, with no sign of patchy skin anywhere. I couldn’t have asked for a better result. I do believe there’s always a downfall to such a good skincare product, and that to be quite frank, is the price.

Bamboo Waterlock Hydro-Pumping Mask, £44 – 100ml*
Seve de Bamboo Pore Minimising Powder Effect Lotion, £42 – 30ml*

Pricey, right? These two are most definitely the most expensive skincare products I’ve tried, but they work that well that it’s a price I am actually willing to pay for the future. Why? Well, other than the reasons I’ve just provided throughout the post, the products last a long time. I’ve been using these twice a day for 1 week and they do not even look touched yet. I estimate they will last at least 2 months each, but I will be coming back to update this post on the day they run out to give you the exact duration to be as helpful as possible.
