Lavazza A Modo Mio Espresso Coffee Machine Deséa : No water . try this

In a world dominated by that other pod machine, probably the market leader due to heavy advertising and use of hollywood stars, little lavazza can get overlooked. But, it really should not, as the quality of the coffee in the lavazza pods is excellent, and i think, superior (and soon to be entirely compostable). Now, this desea machine (currently heavily discounted) is an absolute steal. It excels at making very decent esspressos and cappuccinos. Having contemplated a high-end dual-boiler machine and separate grinder, and all the faff that goes with that, i’m quite happy that instead i settled on this little baby – the quality of the shots is good enough for me in a domestic setting. Coffee snobs can call me a philistine all day long : i do not care, as having had an espresso from a la marzocco, it was better, yes, but not 8k better. Even the desea’s milk based drinks are great, but because of the rather novel way milk is frothed and steamed into a custom lavazza mug, forget textured milk, and the chance to practise latte art by pouring from some stainless steel jug : this just isn’t the machine for that. Coffee is released into the milk, not the other way around, and i think some regional italians would swear this is the correct way. Only one custom glass mug comes in the box, for the milk drinks.

This is a great machine let down by a silly design fault (and the complete absence of customer service in the uk). The problem is that the machine is showing there’s no water when clearly there is. It’s caused by the fact that the water reservoir is airtight unless you’re very careful. As a result back pressure builds up in the water reservoir since air cannot get in when you make a coffee. The simple fix is to remove the lid. There is in fact a groove on the lid which needs to be carefully matched up to a slot on the reservoir body, but unless you know this and know why it’s important, there’s no way you will do it. Other than that it’s a great machine.

Great machine, easy to use, but occasionally throws a fault on water feed to the pod, but overall great. Also can get compost able pods, so guilt alleviated somewhat.

Got this else where because i wanted it in whitelove the taste of all of the lavazza pods so when my “old” machine went wrong i just had to stick with the same make, so went for the new model out. The deseanot only does it do a fantastic job of producing a great coffee, it also looks very nice(white being my chosen colour, which imo looks the best). This “all in one” machine makes it soooooo easy to make a coffee. If you want just a shot of coffee(espresso) just pop a pod in, put your desired mug/cup under and press one of the 4 buttons that are lit up on the left(small, medium, large, free flow) as seen in the 1st provided pic. I personally always have milk with mine, so i use the provided glass mug that you can either have the machine put the coffee in straight after whipping/steaming the milk(as seen in the 2nd pic). Or if you are making coffee for other peeps, you can use the glass mug to just whip the milk then pour that into other mug then add the coffee like you were doing a espresso. The two buttons at the bottom are to have the milk or coffee hotter and to have some extra foam in the milki wish that they supplied a added container just for doing milk. They must think no one out there has no friends or they just like tea lolthe one thing that i must say is it is supposed to be quiet ?. Ha, the machine makes alot of noise. When its steaming and whipping the milk and while its doing that the glass mug sitting on the metal catch tray rattles like mad.
