Morphy Richards Evoke 162520 Filter Coffee Machine : i need coffee!

Out of the box set up for this was very simple – the instructions were fairly simple to look through too. There are probably a few too many buttons and settings on here – but you don’t have to use them all. There most useful setting is the ‘program’ one – so you can set a time for your coffee to be brewed. The time set is simple to, instead of calculating how many hours in the future you want it – you just set the actual time you want it to start. It took a few goes to get the coffee brewed at a good strength – but i’ve mastered it now and it’s great having it in the kitchen. It looks quite smart too, not too big and sits in the corner nicely. The glass jug can be a little bit of a faff to clean, but apart from that its no drama at all.

I didn’t actually realise you could still get a machine with a heating base – thought they’d been effectively banned. This one is limited to 40 minutes which is probably how it’s got one. Personally i now prefer insulated carafes as they keep the coffee hot for longer without impacting the flavour – but this is still okay. It says 10 cups – but they must be small cups – in reality, its 3-4 decent mugs – fine for a small family, possibly not enough for a bigger one, but makes a quick coffee so not a problem to put on another put. Has strength and similar settings but i wonder how often they actually get used. I always go for strong so not something i adjust. Timer effective and easy to use. If you have the matching other appliances (i have the kettle) it’s a good look – but not essential i’d argue. A good, simple drip coffee machine which produces good results.

This filter machine is a great price, it looks very well made and is smart looking. It’s very easy to use, and like some other reviewers mention, it may take a little practice to get your brew perfect for your own taste. Once there, it makes a fairly decent cup of coffee. If you like your coffee in a mug, it will make up to about 10 mugs (obviously, depending on the size of your mug)if you are in a hurry, the fast brew function is very handy, and you can vary the strength if you prefer. I think the timer function is a very good idea, as i really like a drink as soon as i wake up. The machine will keep it warm for about 40 mins, if you tend to fall asleep after your alarm has gone offunlike other filter machines i have used in the past, the “shower head” ensures all the coffee grounds are filtered, so you get maximum use and flavour from them. All in all, a great filter coffee machine that i have no hesitation in recommending.

I have had a couple of morphy richard coffee machines over the years and have found them all compact, efficient and good value for money. This one is exactly the same. I have tried various methods of coffee machines including the ones with pods and also a super duper high tech one which ground my coffee, timed it, produced the strength i liked and even washed up afterwards. Ok it didn’t to that but it was built like something from nasa and it took so long to program in order to produced one cup of coffee that i got fed up with it and donated it to a friend of mine who loves these kind of machines. So for several years now i have had filtered coffee from a morphy richard machine and i have yet to have a bad cup. It is quick, easy and simple. I only brew one cup at a time as i live on my own and if i fancy a coffee i know i can have a mug of hot fresh brew in about five minutes from start to finish. I tend to measure out the coffee and then add a mug of water as i know exactly how strong i like it. I have tested it using the indications of the amount on the jug but have yet to get it just right. The filter is permanent so you just need to clean it out now and then, the days of filter papers are long gone.

A good simple drip pot with the adfvantage of a setting that slows the process down and makes a stronger deeper flavoured coffee. Its easy to fill and set up and the jug pours well , you will need to play with the settings and different types/strengths of coffee to get it right for you but this unit will let you do that and it makes your drink at just the right temperature. I substituted the reuseable filter with a paper one but thats my preference with every drip machine i use.

I am a serious coffee addict – a large cafetiere every morning, decent beans or ground, and a good strong brew. But there are times when i just want to grab and go, so i have been considering buying a filter machine with a timer so i can be up and out in a few minutes. What kept putting me off wash having another clunky machine on the worktop. Thankfully amazon vine took the decision for me and sent me one to review, and i really should have bought this ages ago as it is everything i needed. Here is why i like it:it makes a great brew and the strength adjuster makes a real difference. Intuitively the shower-head is part of this, and it certainly means that you don’t need to overload coffee to get a stronger brew. On holidays in the past i have spent the first six days trying to get my brew just right and then left on the seventh day. This machine got there on day two. Yes, almost all coffee machines do; back when my wife loved me she would hand me a travel cup of coffee as i left the house.

This is the best coffee machine i’ve used. I’ve had two previously, both of which were more expensive and neither are a patch on this. It’s reasonably priced, easy to use and enables you to make perfect filter coffee. 1-12 cups is genuine, as i tested both ends of the spectrum. 12 cups was trickier to make, in terms of the strength but with a bit of practice, i mastered it. Keeps the coffee warm for a good 45 minutes too. This is easy to clean, quite compact in terms of storage and can be put on a timer to be ready in the morning.

This morphy richards evoke filter coffee machine is well-featured for the price, and with a bit of practice you can make a decent cup of coffee using it. We have been been using it for a couple of weeks and are pleased with the results so far; we initially tried it in the kitchen but the timer function temped us to move it to the bedroom where it proved perfect for making an early morning brew. 25 litre capacity and can make up to ten cups of coffee, we have a cup each when we wake up then take the jug down to the kitchen for breakfast – very handy. This machine is straightforward to use whether you use the timer or just make a cup manually, and if you like the style there is a matching kettle and toaster in morphy richards’ evoke range. Currently around sixty pounds from amazon this 162520 model is a bit more expensive than a simple manual filter coffee maker, but if you think you will use the timer or fast brew function then it could be worth paying the extra. Good-looking as well as functional this filter coffee machine gets five stars for performance and features at the price.

I’m not a great fan of filter coffee makers – i prefer espresso machines. I’m afraid i tend to think of filter coffee machines producing tepid over-stewed coffee. This machine does have one or two useful features however. Most notably it has an in build clock and can product coffee at a specified time – say in the morning or timed for when you get back from work. Valuably, and it tandem with the timer, there’s also a hot plate that keeps the coffee reasonably warm for 30 minutes after it’s been made. You get a bit of leeway therefore if using the machine on a timer. There’s also a permanent coffee filter so you don’t need to use disposable paper filters. 25 litres the machine produces a reasonable amount of coffee although the 10-12 cups, as quoted by the manufacturer, are very small. The machine really produces four or five reasonable cups of coffee.

At a shade under sixty quid, this versatile, well-designed and good-looking filter coffee machine from morphy richards scores highly. I am no great coffee connisseur – although i know what i like, and i know duff coffee when taste it. I think this machine may be a little over-engineered for some; there is some basic programmes you have to get used to when using the machine, but once you’ve acquainted yourself with the (reassuringly intuitive and simple) instructions, you’ll be off and running. I rate morphy richards products highly; they have solid manufacturing values and are reliable, in my experience at least, and this is a good addition to their product range.

I’ve been happy with this percolator. Initially i was using it at home but i’ve now moved it into work where it’s being appreciated by our small office. It has a 10 cup capacity (or less if you prefer a big mug) and a 40 minute heating period so it’s ideal for a small office like ours. We’ve used the timing feature which is easy to use although you need it plugged it to avoid resetting it each time. One of the things that initially impressed me was how easy it was to set up and get started. To be honest you can do this without really having to use the instructions – it’s all fairly self explanatory. The only thing that needs a bit of work is with the experimentation with the strength of your brew with is a bit of trial and error. It’s perhaps not the cheapest of machines, but it produces a pleasant, consistent brew that’s ideal for our small office.

Morphy richards is a long-established middle-market british brand with a high reputation in the uk, even if it is not known much in europe as a whole. Made in the far east, of course, this could be described as pretty much a modern, ‘standard’ filter coffee maker – permanent filter, strength control, and quite nice touch action buttons. The timer works well and the hotplate has an auto cut-off. Lots of plastic is used, but then they all do at this price point, so you can’t criticise rh for this alone. At this point, this machine can be recommended as good value for money.

This is a good coffee maker. My favourite feature by some way is the timer. It essentially makes it like a ‘tea-maid’ and that is very useful. Coffee tastes good too although it’ll depend on your brew.It feels nicely made too so hopefully it’ll last.

I must admit, i’ve always had a bit of a love-hate relationship with coffee percolators. What they offer in convenience and a handy hotplate for keeping your coffee warm, they lack in control and in turning most types of coffee into a rather bland, brown liquid. The trouble is often that, unlike with a french press or espresso machine you have little control over how much time the water spends absorbing the coffee –you can leave a french press for perhaps 5-10 minutes before plunging & pouring, or you can change the basket type on the porta filter of an espresso machine, change the coarseness of the grind etc. However, the tradeoff is that making coffee in a percolator is really easy. Pour the right amount of water into the reservoir; put a few teaspoons of ground coffee into the filter and away you go. You can even set it to make coffee the night before, so you have a brew ready for when you wake up. However, as percolators go, this is a pretty good one. It’ll make up to 10 cups (5 mugs) of coffee, but if you are only making one or two, there is a ‘1-4 cup’ setting, which overrides the strength dial on the front of the machine but makes for a much stronger, better-tasting coffee. It features a shower-like pouring head (pictured), rather than a single spout that i’ve seen on percolators i’ve owned in the past, so you won’t end up with dry and unused coffee left over afterwards. Even with the 1-4 cup setting you’re still going to have fairly middling coffee.

We’re both tea and coffee drinkers. Sometimes you just want a decent cup of coffee but not having to worry about the preparation as with a bean-2-cup machine. This morphy richards evoke unit is compact and stylish. The clock/timer function is handy when you need to get up and fresh coffee is ready for you in the kitchen. The filter is a permanent one which saves you having to buy them. We used taylors’ hot lava java ground coffee and the evoke makes an excellent job in providing a steaming cup of coffee. There is only one thing i don’t like about this unit (and others similar to it) – the 30 minute cut-off. At the weekend, it would be nice to have it bubbling away all the time – i wonder if the evoke can be hacked?anyway, the evoke is an excellent coffee making machine.

Never had a reliable friend like my morph evoke. Easy to clean and just chucks away nicely preparing my morning coffee. Brews fast and stays hot, this is great for that ‘first cup of the day’ or a final wind down with a movie at the end of the day. Smart and contemporary look, well made and sturdy. The only small issue is the spout. You will need to pour gently to prevent spillage. And the measurements realistically refers to small cups not my big mugs. Minor points and at this price, nothing to stop me recommending it.

Morphy Richards Evoke 162520 Filter Coffee Machine, Black

Simple easy setup to start making your first jug of coffee. Generally, i prefer a bean to cup machine because i have long associations with over-brewed filter coffee that tastes awful. With good quality ground coffee, this is a much cheaper alternative. You can make enough for 2 cups or perhaps 10 mugs. I prefer a smaller cup of coffee anyway. It keeps warm without the flavour spoiling for at least 30 minutes. It includes a clock and a timer function so that you can set it to brew for when you get home or get up in the morning. It has a permanent built-in filter that just needs cleaning each time rather than the old paper filters. Not cheap, but few really good coffee machines are.

This is a very good value coffee maker, which delivers a good cup of coffee every time. The best feature of this coffee maker is the shower head like water dispenser, which ensures that all the coffee you put in your machine is being thoroughly covered, so as it seeps through into the carafe, it gives a fuller bodied taste. My previous machine only had one stream of water, so it would seep through only the middle of the coffee, which was a waste of a lot of it. This machine is easy to use too with very simple settings, including a setting to adjust the strength of your brew. It will make up to 10 cups of coffee or 4/5 mugs, depending on size of mug. You can also set it to make just a couple of mugs, for a morning cuppa.
