When it comes to fashion these days, I am very much like ‘throw on jeans and any top I can find’. It clashes? I don’t care. I’m not usually like that and usually love buying new outfits and wearing new pieces to work on the daily, but lately I’ve just not had the ‘energy’ in the morning to brush my teeth without spilling it on my jeans, never mind piecing together a stylish outfit.
Over the last week or so though, I’ve been wearing more shirts and blouses to work and I’ve been loving it! The dress code at work is very much casual, but I prefer to dress up a little more than necessary as it helps me get into ‘work mode’, rather than wearing what I typically reach for on the weekends or evenings.
Hawes & Curtis are a new place I’ve stumbled across and for anyone who requires smart work wear or simply loves tailored clothing and fitted shirts – men and women – then this shop is the place to visit. I got this Orange & Purple Paisley Print Semi-Fitted Shirt* which has a lovely neck tie on it too. I used to go through a huge phase of Peter Pan collars, collars over the top of jumpers and pussybow blouses, but then steered away from them to simple shirts and blouses for ease. But this lovely neck tie takes me back to those days. It just adds a little feminine character to the shirt and helps dress it up a little more.
Now as for the Paisley print, what do you think? Over on Instagram and Facebook a few of you guys seemed to like it, and you know what, so do I! I was hesitant at first when I opened the parcel – which by the way comes in a lovely sky blue box to keep your clothes protected – but the pattern and colour combination has definitely grown on me. It’s not something I would personally sway towards or opt for at first glance, but it really is a lovely combination of design and colour that simply works.
