NESPRESSO 11389 Vertuo Plus Special Edition : Brilliant machine, excellent coffee!

Love nespresso, always have.

I enjoy a cup of coffee – i already have an entry level bean-to-cup machine and a tassimo machine. This nespresso vertuo plus is a gorgeous looking new machine, easily the most attractive and striking that i own. It has a large and very classy removable cylinder for the water, an attractive and substantial cup stand and a cool lid that raises and lowers with a single touch (and automatically disposes of your last coffee capsule into a storage bin at the rear). It’s a pleasure to look at and it’s a pleasure to use. Does it make decent coffee though?. It makes a fantastic cup of coffee and fills the air with that wonderful rich coffee aroma as it does it. I’ve drank all the coffee supplied with the machine and particularly enjoyed some of the stronger mug and gran lungo drinks. The coffee comes out hotter than the tassimo, if you add milk to your drink that means you actually end up with a hot drink (unlike the tassimo). There’s also a much smoother, rich crema on the top, which i like a lot.

Easy to set up straight out of the box. It runs through a 5 minute cleaning programme before you can use it. Once it’s ready, you’re set to make excellent coffee – a very thick and long lasting crema and the machine can automatically create the correct size cup based on the pod – alternatively, you can choose the exact volume you want by pressing the green button on top. It even disposes of the used pods in the receptacle at the rear (which can hold up to 10 discarded pods). These pods produce a great aroma and a coffee that easily matches the £3-£5 coffees you’d buy at the mainstream coffee shop chains. Go out and buy one, you won’t regret it.

This is a great product very easy to use and stylish. And it allows you to have a full mug off coffee rather than just espresso or lugano sized.

The coffee tastes amazing every time.

Lovely frothy coffee at the touch of a button. It even self cleans at the touch of a button. The box comes with a selection of large and small coffees to pick the ones you like. Makes the house smell lovely of fresh coffee too.

Very nice looking machine but i find the pods really expensive and there are no alternatives to the original nespresso pods. I find this machine makes too much froth but i guess that’s a personal taste.

Had an older model of nespresso and enjoyed very much. This is a much bigger version, so i have had to rearrange my worktops to fit it in, as kitchen is not huge, however it does look pretty smart. We found this to be very easy to use, a few buttons to press and that was all, we have been used to a smaller one though so unlike some other reviewers we found this very user friendly. We always heat the milk slightly in microwave and then add the coffee to it and its pretty yummy. This machine excellent as you can have a larger cup of coffee now, this is exactly what we have been hoping for as it makes for a lovely any time of day superb cup of coffee. Now the only gripe i have is i am struggling to locate the new pods???. I will keep looking but they need to get these more readily available, maybe they will be soon.

  • A great addittion to the Nespresso range
  • So far very good indeed
  • Great machine!

It is so easy to use and the coffees are divine. It doesn’t take up a huge lot of space either. The coffee comes in three volumes but you can make your expresso into a large coffee by changing the setting to making it with more water – how cooli have made a video of me making coffee.

I’ve done quite a few reviews for machines over the years from vacuum based processing. Bean to cups and of course the nespresso capsule system. So why are they changing the capsule system?2 reasons. 1) the original capsules were being copied and in general they are inferior and leak everywhere and produce a bad experience and of course nespresso want their development costs back as they spend a lot working with other to get the perfect capsule system. 2) this new system is barcoded and tells the machine exactly the coffee you are going for and the size (much bigger water tank. Yay) it also uses a much better system of centrifuge to get the coffee out. So is it better than a citi for example?.The coffee is still of very high quality, it’s a bit better in terms of flexibility for coffee cup size.

Easy to use and makes hot coffee.

This is my first ever machine like this. I am not a coffee drinker, but the rest of the family are, and they have been on my back for ages to get one for when they visit. Now they are all in heaven – and so am i – not just because i am no longer being nagged, but because i am having more visits, too. This is a beautiful, streamlined piece of kit that does not take up a huge amount of room, yet does everything that my coffee-expert offspring expect from a top coffee shop, apparently. Apart from being able to make 4 different sized cups – and make both regular coffee and espresso – there is a wide variety of pods available, to suit the taste of any lover of real coffee. It has a large water tank with the capacity to make 10 cups before being refilled and you can also re-use the pods, which means my kids bring their own fave blends over and make their own artisan pods. And, as a total newbie, i am finding it very easy to use. Between the enclosed instructions and the family’s noisy input, i am now a pretty good home-barista. Definitely an excellent product to learn the art and craft – and to produce superb coffee.

This coffee machine is an excellent addition to my everyday life. Up to this point, i have been grinding beans and brewing coffee in a cafetiere which, although it produces very satisfying results, is a little time consuming and produces a fair bit of cleaning to do afterwards. It’s not the sort of thing i’d do before going to work early in the morning, whereas the nespresso vertuo plus gets me a drinkable cup of coffee in less than two minutes without any real clearing up other than a coffee cup. It has a large water tank which means you don’t have to worry about water that often, it has an electronic opening and closing mechanism and the capsules (made of foil and fully recyclable – the one thing that had put me off machines like this in the past) are easily slotted in, the machine reads the barcode on them and then dispenses your preferred drink, be it an espresso, a gran lungo or a nice, steaming, aromatic mug of coffee. Thanks to the technology inside this machine, it also gives it a bit of a ‘whirl’ towards the end of your brew, giving your coffee a beautifully creamy head and a smoothness that you can normally only get at your local coffee shop. It also dispenses of the used coffee pod into the receptacle at the back of the machine, which will only need emptying after a dozen or so uses. Cleaning it before use (and after a long period of rest, perhaps after coming back from a holiday) is extremely easy too, just three quick presses on the start button and it self cleans within five minutes (just remember to put a large receptacle under the dispenser). This particular package also comes with a selection of twelve coffee capsules, so you can have a good idea about the range of coffee that nespresso offers, have a few sampling sessions and decide what capsules you’re likely to order for your machine from the company. The one (current) reservation about the vertuo range is that is very new, so you don’t get the kind of choice that people have come to expect from nespresso.

This is an initial review after a few days use. I already have a classic pod nespresso machine and love it, short coffee and lungo are great, on occasions i also use the milk facility its works superb. There is no built in milk facility but you can use a separate milk froth maker sold separately should you wish, i already have an aeroccino 2 so that is not a problem for me. The sample pods are obviously bigger than the classic ones as they work for larger mugs. Using a standard mug with a standard mug coffee pod it works a treat, plenty of creme and a lovely smooth texture however a full mug is a full mug, no room for milk (i have no problem with this but some might) so if you want milk get one of the bigger mugs or use a lower volume coffee pod. The machine has a powered open and close mechanism that is nice touch. Open the lid, pop in a pod and all is well. Close and press the button and it does it all, brew time, water quantity etc are all governed by the pod bar code however if the coffee container is too small you can press the button again and it will stop. One of the sample pods (a silver one) was to fill a large mug so i had to stop dispensing early.

I have just received my nespresso vertuoplus magimix and thought i’d share my thoughts having tried and tested it for a few days. Whilst unpacking the machine i was impressed with the sleek, elegant design that looks very high end and premium. It’s fairly lightweight, but more importantly it takes up much less worktop than the machines i’ve had previously. Another feature i love, is that the water tank is of a larger capacity meaning it needs re-filling less often and it can easily be adjusted to sit either on the left or right hand side of the machine. This is a feature i’ve never come across before and is really useful when space is at a premium. The pods come in a range of different sizes according to the variety you purchase. Each variety is colour coded so you can see at a glance which varieties you have available. It also allows you to check out the strength and flavour on the menu easily. Now here comes the really clever part. The pods are each barcoded so that the machine automatically reads the barcode and knows how much water to use for each one.

There are few features that set the vertuoplus apart from the traditional nespresso machine. I received nespresso vertuoplus by magimix from theinsiders uk to review, the machine is a high tech equipment on my kitchen counter. I was lucky enough to get it in black, with a glossy slick and modern look. Before you use the machine for the first time, simply run the clean function and then you are all set and ready to use offering brewed coffee with a rich crema in a large cup. The machine’s unique technology and specially crafted dedicated range of capsules allow you to make four cup sizes with different varieties of blends. 60/per podblends: alto dolce, alto intense. 55/ per podblends: stormio, odacio, melozio, elvazio, giornio, solecio, hazelino, caramelizio, vanizio, decaffeinato.

  • A great addittion to the Nespresso range
  • So far very good indeed
  • Great machine!

Nespresso 11389 Vertuo Plus Special Edition, by Magimix, Coffee Capsule Machine, ABS, 1260 W, Red

I do enjoy coffee but have never owned a machine before. This one is so easy to set up and use, plus cleaning is a doddle. The machine does not take up a lot of room and when i am not using it i park it under a kitchen cupboard. As already mentioned by other reviewers the pods are bar coded so the nespresso machine knows what to do. Even the correct mug size, because this machine knows which size drink it is making. When you press the lever on the machine head upwards the cap ejects into a container at the back of the machine. The caps themselves are easy to place inside. To clean you just place a mug on the holder press down 3 times and the process starts, it takes minutes. It comes with a sample pack in an attractive rich brown coffee coloured box. Opening the lid are twelve podswrapped in beautiful colour coded foil.

Being a coffee addict it’s easy to tell when i’ve had good coffee and bad. This magimix machine brews incredible coffee. The best i’ve had inside my home and i’ve previously owned a tassimo. The machine is very easy to use and clean. The barcode technology ensures a perfect brewed cup each time so you don’t have to worry about which flavour will be prepared which way. At first i thought i wouldn’t enjoy this as much since its a machine without a milk compartment but honestly this produces so much cream with a black coffee that you don’t need milkquite a luxury experience and totally worth it.

This is quite a radical upgrade in so many ways, yet faithful to the original concept which nespresso set out. I’ve had one of the original machines for many years, trying different capsules, working out what i like and don’t like, and ultimately realising that their own capsules are the best, with perhaps a couple of brand name alternatives close behind. Very clever – the machine reads a bar code on the capsules to determine how much water, whether to pre-wet the coffee and then spins it at 7,000 rpm to wring every last unctuous drop from it. Before us there is a cleaning cycle (which is recommend after long periods of inactivity) to run about 0. 5 litres of hot water through it. The to open – lift gently on the metal lever and an electric motor takes the lid right up for you to place the (flying saucer shaped) vertuo capsule in the machine. On gentle push for the motor to bring the lid back down and pierce the capsule ready to go. You can override the water volume which is bar coded to 40ml for espresso, 150ml for a lungo or 230ml for a big mug (aka large americano)personally i like strong short coffee like flat white and macchiato, so the espresso capsules are best for me. The machine comes with a 12 capsule selection box (it even has all three decaff versions in it) and that is really good to get a feel for what you do and don’t like.

This one takes nespresso’s new and very visually appealing vertuo capsules and is of the fully automatic type that requires you just to pop in a capsule, press a button and stand back for a moment or two. The new capsules can make coffee in four cup sizes including really very large cups indeed. For those wanting a flagon of caffeine of a morning to stick in a large travel mug before tackling the commute; this is now a very attractive option. Equally, all those nice little espresso moments are catered for too. The new system spins the capsules as it flushes the water through, which seems novel and is perhaps the reason why the crema can be so substantial that you can stand a spoon up in it. The machine is nice and sleek but bigger than i think it appears in photos, together with the substantial water holder (which can be moved to either side) it will take up quite a slot on your worktop. I desperately wanted to love this new version of the nespresso system but sadly the coffee, though good, isn’t great. We have a big lumbering bean-to-cup machine in the kitchen which makes incredible coffee but that is also not very convenient, takes a ton of maintenance and is physically a big unit taking up lots of space. I was hoping to be able to replace that machine with this much neater and significantly easier to live with nespresso option. That’s the clincher here for me; even with lots of different flavours and strengths, and there’s a very nice 12-capsule sampler pack included in the box, it’s not quite gold standard coffee.

I have had nespresso vertuo plus for nearly 3 weeks now i have to say this is by far the best coffee machine i’ve ever had. The variety of coffees all equally delicious and so smooth with an a amazing crema this really does make the perfect cup of coffee in whatever size you want. It’s all done in seconds at the touch of a button plus the machine looks so sleek. I would definitely recommend this machine.

The 100 free capsules had few that flavours that my partner found palatable.

Amazing all round highly recommend .

I have been working my way through the coffees at a snail’s pace, one a day – so it has taken a little longer than expected to get around to my review. I suffer from acid reflux and for some reason, the coffee from this machine has a habit of provoking it more intensely than from instant coffees, which is what i usually indulge in (i think it’s simply because this coffee is more ‘real’, which certainly isn’t a bad thing in every day circumstances)i love the taste of the coffee, even the milder ones are quite strong. The ones with caramel or hazelnut are by far, my favourite so far. The machine itself functions flawlessly, and has not let me down so far. I love the fact it automatically dispenses of the capsules ready for the next one. The water container holds a lot of water, although i don’t like to fill it up much. I prefer to replace it with fresh water every time. The whole unit feels very high quality. Even the pods feel premium, which would probably explain why they’re a little pricey at 50p per capsule from the average store (i imagine you could probably get these cheaper elsewhere) – probably a bit too much of a leap from instant for me personally, although i’ve asked friends who tried the coffee and they would definitely go for this machine instead. I do really love the machine and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a proper coffee in the comfort of their own home, it just isn’t really for me due to my own personal preferences.

I’ve been reserving judgement on this machine until i’d had the chance to really put it through its paces; i’ve now been using it for over a month and am now ready to offer a considered opinion. The short version is that i really love it. The machine looks really smart and stylish on my worktop, and it does make the most amazing coffee. It is very easy to set up; the instructions are clear about the minimal amount of preparation which is required and then you are good to go. There is a box of a variety of different coffee capsules to try so you can get started right away. This machine uses bigger ‘pods’ than the traditional nespresso machine which means that you can get a good size mug of coffee out of it. Smaller pods are available too at a slightly cheaper price to make an espresso or lungo size of drink. You can ‘top up’ your coffee with a bit more water if you like, and the machine is programmable so that if you have a standard size mug that you always use, you can ensure that it will never overflow. Making a coffee is very easy. Fill up the water reservoir (which holds enough water for quite a few coffees before you need to refill and which can be positioned on either side of the machine), power on the machine, lift the silver lever at the front to open the machine so you can insert the capsule, close the machine, press the button on the top and wait for the machine to work its magic.

Really nice quality machine, makes a great coffee with little mess, milk frother works really well and heats the milk too which i didn’t realise. Cheapest place i could find it and delivered within 24hrs, can’t go wrongalso – don’t forget to register with nespresso for the 100 free capsules.

Unfortunately i wasn’t very happy with this product, mainly because the temperature of the drink was only warm and once the milk had been added this made it even colder.

Liked the easy no fuss way of making fresh coffee, taste great so many variety of coffees to choose from. The milk foamer is brilliant as well. The vertuo looks very stylish and easy to use.

Well made; little fuss; easy to use and most important of all – the best coffee ever. Always looking at reviews on amazon and which – this was the machine they highly rated.

This is the new offering from nespresso, with a different shape of capsule and four available cup sizes. The machine is large but well designed; the narrow profile means it can fit on a worktop beside other appliances, making use of the full depth of the cabinet, with the option of having the water tank off to either side as well as directly behind. One thing to note is that the power cord is relatively short at 85cm, so you need to put this very near an outlet or use an extension lead. It’s quite a tall machine and the brewing head needs an additional 10 or 15 cms of clearance to lift for adding capsules, so it’s not well suited to installation under a shelf. It is reassuringly heavy, and doesn’t seem to move easily in normal use. Setup is easy out of the box, with clear instructions on rinsing the machine for first use – you can be making a coffee within 15 minutes of unpacking the vertuo. This model uses a powered system for opening and closing the brewing head and removing used capsules to the holder at the back of the machine, so it’s very light-touch to use. You can brew up to 13 cups of coffee before you need to empty the used cartridges and refill the water tank – how many exactly will depend on whether you’re making the larger, mug-sized coffees or the smaller espressos. Vertuo was, apparently, developed with office or commercial settings in mind; the size and style of this machine does make it more suited to those settings than to a small domestic kitchen, although serious coffee drinkers at home will find it convenient to use. There is no milk frother on the vertuo (you can buy the separate aeroccino from nespresso), and at the moment there are no milk capsules of the type found in other capsule systems, so this machine produces black coffees only.

For those who find the existing nespresso experience too pedestrian, the new nespresso vertuo line is a different kind of capsules offering a total of 24 different flavours of coffee. Unlike the original nespresso, you don’t have the option of making cappuccino or latte: vertuo produces strictly coffee. Frothing, chocolate and other forms are strictly your own business. This machine is the vertuo plus: it has a larger water reservoir, and heats up in fifteen seconds. Otherwise it’s the same as the original vertuo. Absolutely note that neither machine is compatible with the old-type nespresso capsules. What to do if you want frothy milk?. To my taste, neither the original nespresso nor any other automatic system ever made decent frothy milk. If you don’t have a proper cappuccino machine (and, if you do, you probably won’t be putting it next to your nespresso), your best choice is to heat up milk to about 50 degrees in a microwave and then use either an aerator, or a special cappuccino whisk. The aerator is more fun and looks more professional, but the whisk is just as effective, and much easier to wash afterwards.

I love my machine and wouldn’t be without it for my daily coffee now – i especially love the milk frother and how easy it is to use as well as clean afterwards.

Bought as a replacement for an old one. The vertuo size caps are much better if you like a mug of coffee.

Straight off i would say i love this. The build quality is very high, even the drip tray feels solid. You can move the water reservoir to either side or put it right behind which means you could squeeze the machine into a narrow gap. Everything is automatic, the pods have barcodes on which tells it what to do for each individual one, the used pods are automatically put into the bin tray at the back plus there is an auto clean feature. I also have a dolce gusto machine and a friend has a classic nespresso machine but this easily makes the best quality coffee. The reason for my title and questioning the price is because of the pods. I think the machine, although expensive, is worth it but because the new pods have no third party makers you have to go to nespresso directly. You have to buy the pods in packages of 50’s, add delivery on and it is around the £30 mark. That isn’t a ridiculous amount but before you could buy a pack of 10 for £3 and have a huge choice at all the supermarkets. Hopefully the third parties will appear again and become more easily available.
