Panasonic DMP-UB900EBK 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player : Name says it all

Great quality and noticeable upscaling of dvds and blu rays.

Fantastic machine ,well worth buying.

Plays all my dvds and makes them look amazing, purchased this to play the uhd 4k version of fantastic beasts and it looks brilliant, dark films look great as things i could not see before now are visible due to the blacks being darker. Very quiet and easy to use, although i really don’t like the beep when using the apps page. Also the remote is a little difficult to use as the arrow controls are at the bottom rather than in the middle where they would feel better.

Quiet and fast and reliable (unlike the xbox one x which i made the mistake of buying first). Worth paying that bit extra for such a great machine.

The title and rating may seem odd at first glance but are fair comment. I own two of these panasonic players, one for over a year now. Both are installed with an a/v receiver and 4k tv but in different locations. Normally they function identically but not always. On two recent occasions one particular player has ceased to perform correctly, coincidentally just as it came out of warranty. The other player appears to dislike some dvd’s but plays 4k uhd and standard blu-ray discs correctly. First (older) player – problemson the first occasion it flatly refused to pass dolby atmos or dts:x signals through the hdmi cable to the a/v amplifier and eventually converted virtually all bitstream audio to lpcm in spite of settings being changed in the system menu. This was finally rectified by a full factory reset of the player. The second time it gave me problems it would not respond to the remote control’s home or ‘tray close’ commands and presented the background screen without the icons or went into a ‘no signal’ state. Again a factory reset was required to resolve this issue.

In my humble opinion, currently the best, pound for pound, 4k blu ray player available. Picture and sound quality are simply stunning, upscaling extremely effective, connectivity and operation intuitive. It is silent in operation and both solidly and attactively put together. A recommended purchase at the amazon price at time of writing.

Great price for such a good player.

Really impressed with uhd movies played on this and then input to my pioneer amp.

*4K Ultra HD Blu-ray viewing requires a 4K/UHD TV.

Stunning colour and details

4K high-precision chroma processortechnologies from panasonic hollywood laboratory, the base for blu-ray disc research and development, are applied to panasonic‘s unique ‘4K high-precision chroma processor’. 4K image colour signals (4:2:0) are interpolated into 4K (4:4:4) by a multi-tap chroma process, for natural textures and depth.

Superb value player with first class picture quality and nice build quality. If you don’t require dolby vision (or wifi) i think this is the best option at this price point. Positives:- build quality is decent enough and in my opinion just as good as, for example, the sony x700, which i also have. It has a very quiet tray mechanism – i never notice any disc noise. This is something i am a bit of a stickler for and so was pleasantly surprised. – the picture quality is superb. From what i researched panasonic are thought to be able to present 4k blu ray content pretty much at a reference quality level. Also, from what i read, you essentially get that same performance in this entry level model as their flagship model the much more expensive dmp-ub900 model. All their players across this range use the same picture processing algorithms. If you can live with the shortcomings below, the first class picture quality you get with this player is why i think it is hands down the best option at this price point.

For the price this is excellent, great picture and sound , on a personal note it doesn’t have a function for wireless speakers or wired speakers or a port to hook up to an amp but apart from that it’s great.

My panasonic cinema surround sound system finally gave up the ghost after 10 years of use. I didn’t really want to spend £128 on a dvd player, but i needed a decent one, which would play dvd’s, blue-ray and 4k films, can’t afford to replace all my films, and after doing a load of research and reading a number of reviews on this product i was sold. Received the dvd player prior to christmas (phew), and it really is quite a small device. I must stress if you want to watch netflix etc. Through your smart telly (if you have one), order a network cable and a decent hdmi cable (if you don’t already have them), saves faffing around later. Since i received the dvd player, i have watched a dvd (no bells and whistles), blue-ray and 4k hd film, and i have to say the picture quality is really quite something else, also, with the 4k films if you don’t have time to watch the whole film the dvd player remembers where you left off so you don’t have to watch from the beginning even if you take the dvd out of the player, and that is watching it on a 10 year old flatbed panasonic tv. All i need now is a sound bar and a 4k telly and i will be set. I have a panasonic freeview player and the panasonic dvd player, and when i switch the freeview player on via the remote it also switches on the dvd player which is quite annoying. But the dvd player does switch itself off when not in use.

Very accurate colors much better then the xbox one s and the samsung a bargain .

The ub300 has great picture and sound quality, it’s a shame it has no optical port, but the ub400 does have this feature. I’m having trouble with the lip sync, if i had paid more for the ub400 i feel i would be able to combat this issue more effectively.

Great ultra hd picture and sound.

What can i say?given i’m only ever going to use it for playing 4k disks it’s pretty much plug and play, straight to my av reciever playing back on a 4k pc monitor. Nothing to configure, just plug and go. Disks load in a timely fashion and there’s pretty much nothing wrong with its functionality, that i can see. I’ve played a film on it and it looks and sounds great. It’s cheap as chips though, bargain basement build quality (though it feels solid enough), the disk drawer is silky smooth too, but you don’t get any kind of display on the box itself, just a red light to tell you it’s on. There’s no wifi, just wired ethernet, but as i say don’t i don’t really care as that’s not what i’ve got it for. I’m genuinely happy with it.

I recently bought an lg 4k uhd tv and wanted a uhd 4k player that would do films justice on my tv. I examined loads of options before settling on the panasonic and i’m glad i did. It integrated into my set-up really well. One things that sold it for me, besides the excellent picture quality, was the discrete analogue outputs for audio, meaning i could use my 5. 0 receiver amp together to create a temporary 7. 1 surround set-up, prior to upgrading at some point soon. I, like everyone else using discrete analogue outputs, had to tweak the audio delay (i ended up with around 40ms delay) to get the sound and picture in sync running it this way. This is not a bug, it’s because the audio is processed a lot faster than the image when split like this, so you would expect to have to do this on any player with analogue audio outputs. Having set that up at the installation stage, i haven’t had to tweak it again; every disc i have watched since has been in sync. Ideally, a receiver would be used with hdmi audio channels as this audio delay is not required when using the system that way and, indeed, when i just use my tv’s audio, everything is perfectly synced as it should be. It was easy to set-up, the picture quality is excellent, the online services, firmware updates, apps are all fast and efficient. The remote is very intuitive and also has a backlight, which is invaluable when watching blu-ray films in an otherwise dark room. It also looks stylish with the entire front panel opening downwards to reveal the disc drawer, alongside a usb and sd card slot. It’s played all (correctly formatted) media i have tired with it so far.

Panasonic DMP-UB900EBK 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray Player

Very pleased with this item.

I could not be more pleased. An excellent product at a good price.

Easy to set up with very good picture produced for both 4k and blu ray discs, very good value when purchased at £129.

Easy to use great product prompt delivery.

Item as expected & as described.

This is one serious piece of kit. Picture reproduction is spot on. A tad slow to read initially but once your in there, there no stopping it. Well, you just gotta listen to it.

Would be better if it connected by wifi to the internet instead of by a plug in line. The controller clashes with other panasonic equipment which has to be turned off when it is used. Otherwise it does the job well when you get used to the foibles.

This a great blue ray player, picture and sound great. Only thing that let me down was that the ghostbusters film was not included with the package.

Enjoying watching videos again.

An outstanding piece of kit with superb picture and sound and with dual hdmi outputs too. A bargain at the new lower price.

This does a superb job at upscaling, 4k blurays are stunning. Its only let down is that it doesn’t seem to support some codecs over my lan. It doesn’t have wifi built in but you wouldn’t want to use that unless your router is too far away. It’s good that i can stream recorded tv from my panasonic freeview hd+ through it as well. That won’t work with other brands by the way but it’s a handy feature. Apart from that at £180 it’s an absolute gem.

Excellent, easy to use dvd player.

Immediate delivery, well packed. Easy to follow instructions, although i only operate it as a basic dvd. Player for standard and blue-ray disc’s. As a long standing consumer of panasonic products i can confidently recommend this player.

Bought as a birthday present excellent quality player very versatile noticeable ďifference in picture quality even with ordinary dvds.

I had bought a few 4k films as i have a 4k tv, not realising that my current blue ray did not play these. The quality is amazing, and this player also does 3d. Being panasonic it also works perfectly with my panasonic 3d 4k tv.

Beautiful picture and sound, very satisfied.

Great quality and reproduction.
