Panasonic RP-WF950EB-S Wireless Headphones : Really good

Superb cordless earphones, ideal for music or listening to the television without disturbing others. I can’t fault the surround sound, the reproduction of the sound quality is without fault. Really comfortable to wear for long periods.

I bought the panasonic rp-wf950eb-s wireless headphone’s. They were to be used with my samsung led tv. My first thoughts on getting them, was that the headphones were a nice quality item. This quickly changed when i connected up the transmitter to the tv. What i had thought was a headphone socket, was in fact a 3. I looked all over my tv, and all i could find for an audio output was a toslink socket. First thing i thought of doing, was to send back the headphones. However, i thought i would try them out on my ipod. The headphones were very easy to set up, simply plug in the transmitter to the mains.

I’ve had headphones before that i wasn’t so pleased with – kept falling off if i leant at all forward or back with my head. These really stay put so you don’t have to sit totally uprightnice and snug – possibly would be a bit too snug for some people but was just right for me. If you have trouble with other wireless headphones being too big or slipping off, these might be better for you. A small incidental side note – my hair is short and quite fluffy and this headband can sometimes leave a bit of a dent across my hair where it’s pressed down if i’ve only just washed and dried it or it’s damp or i have the headphones on for a very long time.I’m guessing due to the snugness of this model. They block out external sound really well. That can be a plus, but if you are expecting a knock at the door or something, you might want to leave them off. The signal has always been good for me, no issues there at all. I can go downstairs and still happily listen to a programme (or the footie match or f1 race) while i make myself a cuppa. I’ve had no interference with it or tuning issues.

Nice phones that solved a late night tv problem in a shared home with different working patterns. Generally works well, sometimes a little interferance if in the wrong position but tolerable. Sound quality fairly decent, i wouldn’t use fir serious music listening but it’s surprising just how good it can be on sound tracks. Given 3 stars because of some design niggles. Wire across headband easily comes out of itcs channel, not a show stopper but a niggle. Also having identical switches in the same location on each ear but for different purposes was a poor design choice. On one ear the switch controls surround sound on/off (excellent by the way) on the other ear its the unit on/off button. That leads to constantly having to check which side you’ve got and check it’s the right switch. A user shouldn’t have to think, it should be obvious and intuitive and minimise mistakes. But again it’s a niggle, for the price and the performance, overall it was a worthwhile buy and solved a problem well.

A pretty good product for the price. Decent sound quality and comfortable earphones. Volume control is fiddly to use and should be bigger. When we connected to the headphone socket on the tv the max volume received was very low; so we connected to the headphone socket on another tv and had the same problem; same thing on a third tv. All tvs were different brands and models. After much experimenting we realized that the max volume emitted by tv headphone sockets tends to be pretty low (safety feature i guess). Therefore you have to go to the setup menu, select the sound menu, then select the headphone volume menu and increase the max volume. Voila, volume problem solved. This must be a common problem but there is no mention in the main manual or the troubleshooting section.

I bought these for my husband as he finds it harder to hear the tv when there are other noises going on – and with 2 young boys this is quite often. I put a lot of research into buying these and am really happy. My only regret is not buying 2 pairs. I use them often when my husband is out, i can even carry on listening to a program when hanging out my washingwhen watching late night tv they stop everyone else having to listen to it. They come with all you need to connect to the tv (ours is a panasonic lcd approx 2009) and if hubby has the headphones on he can control his own volume on the headphones but the tv volume is independent of this so i can also listen to the tv at what volume i want simultaneously. They have a surround sound feature which can be turned on and off. Charging is easy with the docking station and they last for ages off the base. They can get a bit sweaty if worn for long periods but they are quite comfy. They are not that big so if you have a larger than average head they may not be a good fit but we find them fine.

I was nearly put off buying these as other reviews said there was hiss, but as long as the input level is right the hiss is only noticable on silent breaks between songs, i can not hear hiss even on quiet parts of music. There is plenty of bass, and they work through several walls. Easily connect to the dock for charging, they are very comfortable to wear, not too tight yet they don’t feel as if they will fall off.

I was using sony rf811’s until i stepped on and broke them. These are much better though imo. They have a much tighter fit on my head. When i would pick something up from the floor with the sony’s they felt like they were going to fly off my head. I also find these to be more comfortable for long listening sessions. The charging base is an improvement over having to plug in the sony headphones to charge. Cons: they buzz and hiss at times and there’s often a very slight buzz in the background but this was exactly the same with the sony’s and i think it’s just a downside of rf headphones but the upsides are: great range, low latency (so mouth movements sync up with the sound), good battery life and relatively cheap, especially if you buy them in ‘very good condition’ from the amazon warehouse; mine were in perfect condition, aside from the box. The biggest con is when the headphones detect no sounds is coming through to them and shut off, they do so with a loud ‘boof’ noise that isn’t entirely pleasant.

Got this product a few weeks ago after a few days waiting for delivery, was very pleased with quality and fit, and some issues with tunning head phones to my tv and x box so e mailed seller who was very helpful. Instructions were not clear , so here is the best advice i can give yo if you are having issues, fully charge head phones, connect audio wires direct to (in my case x box or sky tvbox) tv or where ever you sound is coming from. Play sound from tv, games console etc. With volume up at 85/95% (yes that loud.I played a cd on x box and music from mtv on television) then switch on charging / transmitter base unit, turn volume on head phones to 0, put head phones on then switch on power to head phones, push tunning button and after 5/10 seconds light on charging unit should be green. Sound quality was amazing once i got every thing connected. Dont forget to turn sound up when light goes green.
