Russell Hobbs Horizon Jug Blender Two Speeds : Does the job

I have had a number of blenders in my time from a wide range of manufacturers. Many have driven me to distraction by their flimsy, plastic jugs which tip easily and are difficult to operate, insisting every thing must be in perfect alignment before the motor will move. Some have very flimsy lids which fly off if the jug is a bit over full, splattering you or your kitchen with product. This was a different beast from all those. The jug is glass which makes it more solid in operation, and the mechanism for attaching/detaching the jug from its motor is just simplicity itself. It’s drawbacks are only two speeds, plus pulse. However, i am a keen cook and frankly found it sufficed for everything i asked it to do. Purée fruit or vegetables, chop, create healthy smoothies, blend excellent soups. I really liked this product and found it easy to clean.

This is a two speed blender with a glass jug. To be honest it’s very easy to use, put stuff in jug, turn to the correct speed (there are only two) let stuff whizz around, finish. Cleaning is also pretty easy. The blade/base detaches so you can clean that in the sink, the rest of it can also be done in the sink, or put in the dishwasher. It’s mainly used for smoothies and soup in my household and whilst it is fairly basic, it does work well.

This review concerns the russell hobbs horizon jug blender two speeds with pulse, 1. 5 litre glass jug, 650 w, 24721, price at review £59. Probably best regarded as a mid-priced blender combining a base unit housing the 650w two speed plus pulse setting motor in addition to a very heavy solid glass jug offering a 1. Being a basic model it lacks the multi, variable speeds offered by more expensive, and indeed some cheaper offerings. That being said, this lack of multiple control settings makes it ideal for the non-techie chefa nice looking, and basic operation unit that ticks most of the boxes.

I have have several blenders and i must admit i prefer the ones which have glass jugs – they are much easier to clean as grease does not seem to stick to them as much. However having the glass jusg does make it heavier, which for some can be a problem. The blender has two speeds and a pulse action and does a great job. I am really pleased with it.

Here’s my review for the blender. The russell hobbs 24721 jug blender a decent blender for the price. It’s smart looking with its black, white and chrome and has a handy cord storage in its base to keep everything neat and tidy. The jug itself is quite heavy compared with other blenders as it’s glass and when the jug is nearing its capacity (1500ml) it could be a problem for some people. The blender is easy to set up and use and easy to take apart to wash. The speed settings 1-low and 2-high are sufficient to produce smoothies or soups and the pulse setting is great for a more chunkier soup. The lid fits snugly and gives you reassurance that it won’t get forced off and has the advantage of a cap so you can add ingredients while the blender is work. Overall this blender is good but its price is a bit on the high side.

This is a solidly built blender from a quality manufacturer. It has two speeds – slow speed for juicing solid mixes and fast speed for blending soups etc. It also has a pulse function, which i find very useful when blending my home-made soups as i prefer some chunkiness in my soups, which this does very well. I particularly like the very solid glass jug on this blender – the upper parts are safe to put in the dishwasher, but you are warned that this may mark the glass (but does not affect performance), but i find it only needs rinsing under the tap. There is a 2 year warranty on this, which can at the moment be increased to three years on registration with the manufacturer. This feels a good, solid blender and should give years of service at a very reasonable price.

This is a very hefty blender with a lovely large capacity. We use this purely for shakes and smoothies and it deals with this well and the large 1. 7l jug ensures you can make one big batch for all the family. It has 2 speeds and a pulser setting – we use the pulse to initially mash the fruit down a little before properly blending. Its appearance is very smart and modern and looks and feels good quality. The jug is glass and is fairly heavy when full of liquid to pour. Cleaning can be done in the dishwasher if you remove the blades but it doesn’t actually fit in our little dishwasher so we just rinse it out by hand which is no big dealall in all a great blender, the large capacity is essential for us and it blends well a variety of fruit and vegetables.

It not too loud when its running – some you need ear defenders … and i have to say it looks stylish in the country kitchen i have. I did try a number of different items from blending drinks thru to fruit and veg – all ground up nicely and very smooth. I think i will use it as i try to eat more healthy food – i did find it really good for blending up soupsgetting it clean was no worse than for anything else like thing but i think its a good piece of kit.

### gorgeousthis looks very premium. It’s visually very lovely. ### heavybut it’s very heavy due to jug thick glass. ### problemit’s not good for powedered shakes — i found that some powder gets stuck in nooks and crannies at the base and remains bone dry, you see it only when you take it apart. ### noiseyits noise is grating to listen to — it’s like my ear is being raped. It’s not so much the noise level; it’s the type of noise. ### priceyi’m not sure the price of £60 is warranted. ### update 18 april 2019:mike keeps leaking from the bottom 😩😩🏆 reducing rating to 2 stars.

The first thing to mention is how heavy this thing is, this is mostly due to the chunky glass jug that this uses. It looks good too, considering that, for many, appliances live permanently on the worktop, this may be of some importance. It feels like a quality item and has so far shown no sign of wearing out or breaking down. In use, it is a very simple blender, with two speed settings and a pulse function. For most jobs this is sufficient, though it has a problem with drier blends – a tin of drained chick peas wouldn’t blend, they just collected in the void between the blades and jug walls. It is fine with wetter items, such as soups, smoothies and sauces, but you’ll probably want a food processor for much else. Cleaning is rather simple, as the blade unit detaches from the jug and can be washed in the sink, while the jug and lid can go in the dishwasher. Overall, i think this is a decent, if not outstanding blender.

This is a good quality basic jug blender, but i feel it is currently listed at a very high price, when compared to the blender and mixer unit, which is available for just over £38. At almost £60 this is a third more expensive for lessthe jug blender has a 1. The unit comes with a stainless steel blade for chopping. The jug has an easy pour shaped spout and a good deep seal on the lid, so it won’t easily fly off. The jug also has a good sized handle for carrying. The removable parts are all dishwasher safe. The main unit, has a two speed motor, with a dial to set the speed and a pulse setting, which you don’t have to keep pressing or turning to pulse. The unit has some anti slip feet, which also keep it stable whilst in use. The blender is quite loud, but no more so than most other blenders.

Not for the weak wristed, this really heavy glass jug means you can confidently and professionally crush ice, chop nuts, and always expect to get perfect, almost instant results when making breadcrumbs, soups, small cake mixes and smoothies. Low and high-speed, then pulse, controls allow close supervision of the blending process. It is a sturdy monochrome machine that deserves a place out on the worktop or easy access kitchen cupboard as preferably it should be available at all times, all put together.

the first thing to say about this jug blender is that it is very heavy. The empty jug, with the lid on, weighs almost a kilogramme. It’s probably not suitable for anyone with weak wristsit’s extremely well made, everything feels good solid quality. The jug is very cleverly designed. The glass part unscrews from the plastic base and the blades pop out. I’ve been astonished at the amount of food gunk that i would have missed if i couldn’t take it apart. Using this blender i have made the best bulletproof coffee i’ve ever had (espresso, milk and coconut oil). I’m not really a smoothie drinker, but for the purposes of this review i had a go at blending ice cubes.

I find that blenders can be a bit samey and boring, but the glass really makes this product stylish. That said, it’s much heavier than the usual plastic jugs. It is easy to clean, both either by hand or in the dishwasher. It only has limited adjustability, which is either a good or bad thing, depending on what you want to blend. It was a little more expensive then i’d expect to pay for a blender.

Blenders=========i’ve used blenders before but they often end up in a cupboard due to cleaning-up. This one is not so difficult in that it easily comes apart, allowing for thorough cleaning. In use======it’s more powerful than a cheap ‘supermarket’ blender. It crushed frozen fruit for a smoothie in seconds. Looks======it’s well-designed and well-made, with a good weight to the base.

The blender base unit has a simple, clean design and – if such things matter to you – looks good in the kitchen. It was great to find the jug to be made of quality, thick glass and not the usual plastic. However, the glass jug does screw into a plastic ring that in turn houses the blade unit. The three parts need to be separated for cleaning – see below. The lid fits snugly – always important on a device like this – but i would have preferred it to twist on with a tight seal rather than just push on. I wonder whether over time the push on seal will remain as good as it is new. The blending capabilities themselves have been tested on a variety of ingredients to produce such things as chocolate milkshake and vegetable soup. The results were very good with no unwanted debris, unchopped elements etc. The blending power, stability and controls cannot be faulted. Which brings me back to the cleaning.

Russell Hobbs Horizon Jug Blender Two Speeds with Pulse, 1.5 Litre Glass Jug, 650 W, 24721

It has good cable storage space, and you can take the blades section apart for proper cleaning unlike some blenders. The lid fits firmly, and has a removable filler cap to add further ingredients while blending. It all sits firmly on the worktop. The main downside is that there are only two speed settings, plus pulse – for this price range i would really expect to have the flexibility of multiple speed settings and it therefore feels a bit overpriced to me for what it is. For me that finer speed control is essential for making serious use of blenders.

I have trouble holding heavy items because of weak muscles so that is a downside for me and anyone else with a similar issue. I did manage to successfully to use it fir my first ever bulletproof cocoa. I think this is a very adequate blender. I like that it is basic, only 2 speeds. And looks like a classic style. It sits easily on the kitchen counter because i could not cope with taking it in and out of a cupboard. I use a blender at least once a week and have used it to blend a soup and also a smoothie. I think the best plus point is using a glass jug and not a plastic one. I am more suspicious of plastics. . Especially in contact with food.

It’s not remarkable in any new ways, but not cumbersome or terrible compared to others either. Like all blenders, the bits are a pain to wash up (or you can put washing up liquid and water in it and blend that) but it cleans relatively well, and the glass jug is far less prone to staining. The base is wipe down only and gets grubby over time if you don’t stay on top of it. But that’s not new, that’s just all blenders. The usp of this one is i think is that it looks swish. Nice big dial, chrome details, hidden cord, glass jug – it’s made to look decent when kept out on the kitchen surface. It very much is like all other blenders, but the positive of buying a brand is that you get the warranty, customer service, reliability that it’s going to last, and that it’s safe. It comes in to it’s own with cross-use for things like onions and then fruit, as glass cleans far better than plastic, and doesn’t hold stains or smells. How much you are willing to pay is up to you, but i don’t think it’s got any faults really, it’s just not jazzed up to the max like some of them out there that are £££.

This is a very good blender, easy to set up and use. It is attractively packaged. It’s as easy to clean as any other blender i’ve used. It has 2 speed settings plus a pulse setting.
