Sennheiser HD 2.30i On-Ear Closed Back Headphones for iOS – White : excellent deal from

I like sennheiser headphones but can’t get on with this set. They are well built and the sound quality is pretty decent. It’s not brilliant, the small earpads are undoubtedly a factor in that, but it does the job. Presumably portability is a bigger motivator in purchasing a set of headphones such as these rather than ultimate sound quality. I don’t have a particularly big head, but the headband is massive on me and i had to adjust the ear pieces quite a long way up the band for it to fit. Strangely, it’s also very tight and after 30 minutes or so my poor ears are pretty uncomfortable and have had enough of wearing the set. The remote works pretty well but note that there are different versions of the product depending on whether you will use them with ios or android. The buttons on the remote respond nicely and although it’s quite close to your ear, with three controls it isn’t difficult to use. You get a carrying pouch included and when folded up, the hd2. 30gs don’t take up too much room. They should survive ok folded up as the set is reasonably sturdy. They look quite good, the sound is ok, perhaps slightly above average, and i imagine most people will get on with the fit just fine. But for me, there are better headphones in this price range (and even in sennheiser’s own range) and i would shop around for those.

A great quality set of headphones, aimed squarely at mobile devices – the “sound to hit the street with” according to the promotional blurb. So it’s in this context that i’ve used and review these phones. Build quality is very good – they are solid whilst being collapsible. The phone pads completely cover your ears, which ensures no sound leakage (one of my pet hates) and also shuts off a significant amount of the world around you. These would be perfect for a commute or a plane/train journey. The headband is of a quirky design – it doesn’t retract/extend like most headphone bands, its length stays fixed. Rather the pads themselves move up and down over an approximately 3-inch track at each far end. Looks a little odd, especially if you are smaller of head, as you then have anything up to a couple of inches of spare headband protruding past the end of the pads. The pads themselves sit tight to your ear and exert some pressure, but are comfortable and well made, you soon forget they are there. They work well in the gym too.

30g on-ear closed back headphone – black’ is intended as a lightweight set of portable headphones especially for use with android smart phones and tablets as an in-line microphone is also fitted within its control unit. They will deliver a better quality of sound than the basic and inexpensive ear-buds and similar usually provided or used with most models. For the most part, sennheiser refer to its audio use and mention the microphone almost as an afterthought. However, the box is labelled ‘for samsung galaxy, lg, htc, sony and other tablets & smartphones’. They fit on the ear rather than around so will allow the wearer to be somewhat aware of environmental sounds, traffic noise etc. And not to isolate the wearer as will some designs of in-ear ‘phones. The earpieces are oval in shape and approximately ear-size.

Hyped lows and uninspired high but not a bad set of cans for casual listening. Build quality feels pretty good. Pretty typical consumer headphone.

The most noticeable thing about these on the ear headphones is how comfortable they are.   the padding is soft and they’re not skull-crushers so can i can wear them for hours on end.   the sound is beautifully balanced and the bass is just perfect and doesn’t overwhelm the overall sound.   they don’t kill external sound but do keep a fair bit out.   the plastic headband is springy but well made and the pads are mounted on sliders and are simple to adjust for the perfect fit. The three intergrated mic controls buttons on the detachable cable – volume up, pause / answer / next track, volume up – work perfectly with my samsung tab s2 but the volume buttons don’t work with my oppo android phone although the answer button does for incoming calls and the mic works perfectly.     foldable with a right angle jack pin, there’s silky draw-string bag included in the box.   overall these are, for the money, an excellent pair of mid range on the ear headphones from sennheiser.

Stylish and lightweight, but that is about it. You do get more detail and less noise, than with cheap headphones, but for £20-30 you can find a headset that is more comfortable, with better sound insulation and better sound production. I am not convinced of the claims of robust and durability, nor are they exceptionally portable. Why an emphasis on bass, rather than a more balanced sound?some female smartphone users, will like the sophistaced appearance, but if looks are not your main criteria you can do better.

Great sound quality, light and comfortable.

Update (april 2017): have downgraded my rating from 4 to 3 stars. The ear phones became less comfortable quite quickly and kind of pressed against the rim of my ears – no where near as comfy as ear cans that suround the outer ear. After using them to watch a film my ears would be a little sore at the rims – always aware i was wearing them. The kids also started going back to the sony standard big headphones we have. They became used only infrequently. A few weeks ago the jack which i used to plug them into my laptop cracked and bent – the metal around the wiring inside is thin and now despite my best attempts at straightening the jack one headphone has no sound. Not impressed given the price pointwe have only had these headphones a couple of days but they are proving very popular in our household. They feel ‘light as a feather’ at jut a touch over 100g for the actual headphones and lead but are super soft. The ear pads have extra padding around the outside and the inner ear pads are completely padded with foam (almost level) with the outer rim. The headband is plastic but on the inside there is a thin pocket of air between the hard outer plastic and a softer more giving plastic inner rim that sits on the head which makes them cushioned.

These are very comfortable headphones – i usually use earbuds but have found these to give far greater clarity and they cut out more external noise – which means i didn’t need to increase the volume whilst walking in a noisy street environment. I also tested onboard a flight and again noted far less external noise. The headphones are increadibly comfortable on – especially on the ears. The microphone is also very clear when using for phone calls. The pause button worked on the set i have but it didn’t control the volume – not sure if this is a compatibility issue with iphones or if mine is defective. The earphones come with a carry pouch and fold quite neatly. Would have given 5 stars if the volume control buttons worked as the clearest headphones i have used.

First and foremost the sound quality of these headphones is of a high standard. They handle low-end bass and give a faithful rendition of top-end sounds. They cancel out most other noises so you feel really emersed in the music. Moving on to the build – they are very light and comfortable, to the point that you almost forget you are wearing them. They fold up so you can put them in your pocket, but to me that just makes them unnecessarily fragile. Don’t get me wrong, these are well put together and i suspect will last well, but i like headphones to be durable to the point of indestructable. The design isn’t my cup of tea, but that’s for the buyer to decide.

These headphones are really fantastic. The sound quality is exactly what you’d expect from sennheiser. The volume is adjustable via controls on the cord that goes to the jack. The headphones fold over on the stems on both sides to make them more portable and you do get a neat little carry bag to keep them in. They are very comfortable indeed to wear, with padded / cushioned earpieces. There is a sticker on the box that says they are for the samsung galaxy and other phones, though they also work perfectly well plugged into a computer audio output socket. Very suitable for use when recording.

Decent headphones but with one major flaw. The audio jack connection is very, very weak so if you happen to drop your device while these are plugged into it, and said device lands on the audio jack – then it’s curtains unfortunately. Likewise if you have these in your pocket whilst walking, the jack will eventually loosen and audio will be partially/fully lost. I have had two pairs of these broken in this way in 9 months and i am someone who very rarely breaks their electronic goods. These suffer where other headphones of mine have had absolutely no issue. Sennheiser do not offer spare cables for this model – they do so for seemingly every pair of headphones they’ve made apart from these ones. This is despite the fact that the cable is detachable and is unique to this model – you can’t use anything generic, it has to be sennheiser’s own, and it has to be for the 2. Customer service didn’t even know which pair of headphones i was referring to when i spoke to them about this – not even the previous hd 2. If you break the cable, you’ll have to get the whole thing replaced. Something to consider before buying. Would personally recommend keeping these for indoor use if you do buy them.

These are really comfortable with a great sound.

These headphones are stylish and appear well made. The sound quality is pretty darned good from what i can tell (on an android phone- i wasn’t able to test the extra functionality for iphone). The sound is better than with a pair of sony on-ear phones, for example. The cushioned earpieces are good at blocking outside sound. As others have mentioned, the design with the folding headband which is a fixed size but lets the earpieces slide to adjust, is well thought out and it feels snug and secure on my head. However as a glasses wearer i find this makes my ears ache after a while of wearing, as it presses my ears against my glasses. Adjusting the size doesn’t seem to help, but pushing the headphones slightly forward to adjust the angle helps a bit. However this doesn’t feel completely natural and leaves the back of my ears uncovered. So, for me, earbuds seem to be better, although i acknowledge you will likely get a better sound quality from these. Edit, 26th october: the tightness around my ears is more of a problem than thought.

They are light and foldable, no complains on sound quality. I generally like using them, both for connecting to laptop and listening to podcasts on phone during walking. Only after prolonged usage (e. More than 5 hours) they become slightly unconformable. Cable is quite long which can be good when in home, less when during walking when phone sits in your pocket. The cable is also the weakest element. I had a few sennheiser headphones, and all developed faults in their cables. This one was not different, and i lost sound in one side (though i can get it back for short time when i try bending the jack). The cable is detachable, but i was not able to find anybody selling replacements.

I’ve been a big fan of sennheiser headphones for years now. I always expect them to deliver well-built and decent sounding headphones and i’ve rarely been disappointed. 30i phones are pretty good and have some nice features, but overall i was not completely happy with them, they just lack a bit of polish for me. They are comfortable to wear for short/medium periods, but after an hour or two i find my ears get quite hot and they feel a bit tight around my ears and head. It’s not surprising that these travel-oriented headphones have a slightly stronger grip than studio-style designs, but i’ve used other on-ear headphones that are more comfortable for longer periods. On the plus side, the adjustable headband does reach around a taller head shape (including mine) and these headphones do stay firmly in place during moderate activity. I personally pick up a dull booming sound through the ear pads each time my feet hit the ground when walking, which is a bit annoying. The pads do a reasonable job of keeping out ambient noise and there is not much sound leakage either, so you could use them in an office environment without disturbing your colleagues. They fold down into a compact size and the included cloth bag is a nice way to store and transport them.

Sennheiser HD 2.30i On-Ear Closed Back Headphones for iOS – White

I like the folding design of these – makes them neat and compact when not in use. The overall feel of them is good but they still squeeze and make my ears feel numb after wearing them for awhile. Sound quality is very good – i mainly use headphones to watch movies / tv on an android tablet – and it’s always handy to have a pair of wired headphones rather than just bluetooth ones. Overall good design and qaulity sound.

I was very pleased to receive these headphones as a trial version, as i wanted to see what they were like compared with my current pair: which are the sennheiser px 100-ii foldable open mini on-ear headphone, which i’ve had for 4 or 5 years and are going strong, although the ear foam pieces are starting to look worn. The px 100 folds down a lot thinner than the hd2. 30i, mostly because you can fold the ear pieces flat in the px 100 and the ear pieces have much less padding. 30i folds up pretty neatly, the ear pieces can slide up and down to allow for head size and i haven’t quite got the optimal position yet but they are pretty neat. They also come with a soft carry bag. The ear pieces – closed ear – are very well padded and both i and my partner find them comfortable to wear. The sound is interesting, i haven’t had closed ear headphones before and i think i can play things even more quietly than normal and still get good sound. I use mine in an open plan office. I can hear myself eat when wearing them, its not obtrusive but it is slightly odd.

These are a nice set of headphones and appear to be built to a reasonable standard. They’re lightweight and fold down nicely to be stored in the included pouch. These headphones are excellent for portability. Comfort is good, but only for short listening sessions. After around 40 mins i can feel discomfort and have to give my ears a rest. Clamping pressure is quite high on these compared to other headphones. Sound quality is generally good and i’m happy with the flat response from these headphones. Mids and highs are well defined and clear. Bass is ok, but they do struggle with sub-bass, which is unusual for a closed back headphone, however, i think this is due in part to the flat design of the ear pads causing an insufficient seal (even though they clamp quite strongly). Ultimately, i would not recommend these for bass-heads.

My old ears are going (anything much above 6 khz and i’m struggling), and i don’t have any high-quality equipment – only my laptop (most listening via youtube) and a newish but cheap radio/cd player. However, i get perfectly good sound quality using a pair of amazon basics on-ear phones, currently priced at £14, and these are what i’ve used as the baseline. The sennheiser phones are the first modern high-quality pair i’ve tried. They look really good, and the padding on both the headband and the earpieces is very comfortable. Importantly, the sound is nice and clear. However …i couldn’t find the spec for the sennheisers on the manufacturer’s website, and had to get them from a review. According to this, the frequency range is 12 hz-22,000 hz; one of the claimed features is “emphasis on bass”, but the amazon pair claims better frequency range – 18-22,000 hz (if you believe specs, and if you can actually hear that low – i can’t, and for us wrinklies the low frequencies are still audible). The sennheisers supposedly provide slightly greater volume (115 db as opposed to 101 db), but in my view anything over 100 db is bad news. (ask pete townshend, ted nugent et al).

Good soundand get yourself a rigid case these won’t last long in your bag or pocket.

Note for fullest functioning you need an iphone or an ipad for these headphones. The description doesn’t make this clear but the packaging says clearly for iphone/ipad. My initial review was written from android and i couldn’t get the bass level to change, but using with an iphone brought out the full functionality. If you have an android be aware you can only get basic use. Headphones are such a personal thing – one man’s fab tune is another man’s nightmare – so this review can only be taken to be my personal experience. The headphones are a neat design with a curious folding earcup which at least makes the whole thing a little easier to squeeze into your bag. There is a volume control and mute button on the cable but this is surprisingly close to the ear so you can’t see what you’re doing with the headphones on. The mute button worked fine but i couldn’t get the + or – buttons to work on mine. The box does blare ‘for ipad iphone and all other i i i’s. ‘ and i’m using it on my android phone so that may make a difference.

As always, excellent deal from sennheiser.

These sennheiser headphones are a very stylish looking pair of headphones. I liked the fact that they look a bit more girly than most headphonesthe size – the best thing about these was the size. I have a small head and have had problems with a lot of headphones. They are usually too big for my head and even on the smallest settings the ear pads often sit too far down on the side of my head. These were snug and comfortable on my head. The sound – i thought the sound was very crisp. I listened to some orchestra music and was definitely aware that i could hear all the instruments more clearly. I think the headphones did a good job of cutting out sounds from outside too. I have to admit that whilst they were better than my current £30 pair i am not sure they were that much better. The portability – this was a bit of a disappointment.

Slimline, compact cans like these are intended for on-the-go lifestyles. They will no doubt be judged on portability and looks as well as sound quality – so lets take these qualities in that order. On the face of it portability is good. The cans are light and slim with very soft, plush leatherette earpads which help insulate the listener from background noise and distractions. Unfortunately i found the springiness just too much and couldn’t forget i was wearing them. In fact after 15 mins or so the pressure was too much. I’m hat size 60 so perhaps they will be better for somone with a smaller head. I wasn’t impressed with the way the cans folded either (see one of the photos in the description) and didn’t find that particularly compact. The hinge seems quite flimsy and i doubt would stand up to being sat on or dropped too far onto a hard surface. They fold up to go into a nice and silky but insubstantial bag that offers no protection at all.

The sound quality on these headphones is fantastic. The sound is clear and the bass tones are good. They look and feel like a quality set and are nice and portable – folding up smaller than you would expect them to. They come with a little carry pouch too to keep them slightly protected, although it’s soft so it’s not going to protect against any impact if you carry them around in a bag. The only problem is that the ear pads are small and the band is quite tight. This equates to discomfort after an hour or so of wearing them. It’s a shame as other than this they tick every box for me.
