Sennheiser HD 4 : Comfortable, if a little hot/heavy Great sound quality.

I bought these headphones during black friday sales and even though i paid £90 for them i was disappointed with the sound quality and interface. One star was dropped due to sound quality which people need to be aware that these won’t sound good or as you would expect out of the box. You need additional software to enhance the sound you wish to get to. Another star dropped due to noise cancelling efficiency and activating. To activate this or change between the 3 settings you need to press both volume buttons at once and these are very temperamental when used. Also the three profiles of noise cancelling have very minimal change between them. If you don’t mind the above then these are not a bad pair id you pay less than £90 for them.

In order to experience 100% of the sound from these very very good quality headphones you have to place them a certain way on your ears. As you realise once you purchase these headphones, the ear cups are really small and look embarrassing; however if you slightly crumple your wider, flimsy part of your ear into the cup so that all the ear fits in the cup, you are wearing it appropriately. This allows your to experience the actual anc aswell as the high sound quality which other reviewers do not experience as they place the headphones ontop of their ears ( the anc is much more pronounced when worn this way).

These headphones are amazing, i bought them primarily for use with my macbook and iphone. It was really important to me that when watching movies that there would be no lag and these headphones do not disappoint. The sound quality is fantastic, music sounds crisp and punchy, movies sound deep and rich. I couldn’t be much happier with them. The only thing i would change is the colour, it’s a bit boring. In a world of beats and sony headphones full of colour and interesting design i think these look a little bland, but the performance more than makes up for that. I’m so happy with this purchase, easily the best money i have spent all year.

Great nc headphones for the price. My wife use them when she plays electric piano.

Being my first ever noise cancellation headphones i have mixed feelings, yes theu are great when you travel and it does get a bit less noisy but by no means do they make it go all silent, i am happy with them but i have nothing to compare them with, would have enjoyed a bit more volume,.

I love these headphones, i bought them on black friday so got quite a good deal. The sound quality is fantastic (listen to dark side of them. I have only had to charge them twice in the month since i have had them but i don’t use them every day. The noise cancelling is good but not as good bose headphones i have tried, they still cope well with indescript background noise (such as engine noise). I can’t really comment on durability at this point but they seem well made. They are also very comfortable.

Having never had headphones since i had a “walkman” when i was a child, these are absolutely amazing. The battery life is huge, 12-15hiurs of use. Easy to pair and has a decent range. They are comfortable and the material in contact with your ears are wipeable. I use to get annoyed with my earphones that use to plug into my iphone when running or chatting to people on the move and that was because i’d always get the cables tangled. Not now with these wireless headphones. Came in nice basic packaging, the pouch it comes with is very useful for transporting. I like they are able to fold in half. The noise cancelling is fantastic, i can safely put them on have it on the lowest volume setting listening to a podcast or music and stops the painful sound of my children (when having an irreversible meltdown)love them.

These are nice headphones, they have good sound and good quality build for the price, the noise cancelling is really good, my computer fans are loud and can be a bit of a distraction when playing fps games with open back headphones, so i wanted to try wireless with noise cancelling, i know these headphones are not aimed at gaming but i thought i would try anyway as if they wasn’t good for gaming they’d still be good for music, they’re not good for gaming (only testing with fps game) as you cannot hear the direction people are coming from. When playing with music they’re good and clear but the headphones are quite tight and do get uncomfortable within a hour as it feels like something is squeezing your head, if you don’t listen to music for long periods of time i would definitely recommend these, if using these for music from pc i would suggest using razer surround pro as that makes a big difference.

  • Best money I’ve spent all year
  • good sound quality, tight fit, erratic bluetooth, lacks full function with some devices
  • Average sound quality

I got these to wear for my commute and in the office, as i prefer a quieter working environment and open-plan offices are not the best for that. The noise cancelling is great, not as amazing as with a bose pair, but enough for what i need to use them for. Intermittently, i was getting weird beeps whilst listening (usually a podcast or an audiobook), and it took me forever to find out why it was happening, and how to stop it. For reference, i was using them wirelessly with an iphone 8. For those of you who are having the same issue – it’s because the volume on the headphones is out of sync with the phone; you should only use the volume buttons on the headphones to adjust up or down. To fix it, turn the volume down on the headset until you hear the long beeeeeeep which indicates you’ve turned it down as far as you can. If you can still hear the audio, turn the volume down on your phone completely (for me on the iphone i do it until the “mute” notification flags up). Then, turn the volume back up using the buttons on the headset.

Surprisingly light, and flexible, but still manage to feel well made. As others have commented, the ear cups are very small and obviously air tight, so can feel kind of claustrophobic to your ears when worn for extended periods. They also seem to make your ears and head feel quite sweaty again if worn for long periods. That said, they do exactly what they should, and will happily remove 90% of the sound when using a petrol mower. On an aircraft they are really effective, whether listening to music or movies. Battery life is amazing, even when loud with noise cancelling enabled. I have used them for 15+ hours and there was still plenty of life remaining. A couple of other points;they charge from micro usb so great for travelling. The supplied bag is adequate, being soft but sufficiently strong to withstand being thrown around in your bag. They are not up there with the bose, but at less than half the price well worth the (minor) investment.

The ear pads are really comfortable. The top strap gets slightly uncomfortable after a couple of hours but not that bad. It’s my first pair of headphones though so nothing to compare them to. Again with the noise cancellation, i have nothing to compare it to, but i think it’s pretty decent. You can obviously hear stuff in the background but it’s somewhat muted. The listing says it comes without a case, but there is a small zip bag with it for carrying around, so no need to buy one unless you want a hard case. Bluetooth works well, don’t really have any issues with that. Haven’t used them for gaming or tv, i only use them in the office and on my walk home.

The sound quality is brilliant. I’ve only had them during the winter, so this hasn’t been an issue as yet, but i can imagine my ears getting very hot in the summer. My only other complaint is when travelling on a bus, which i do on a daily basis, there’s a thumping noise when the road is bumpy, which is often. I sometimes get used to it but it can be an uncomfortable noise. The sound cancelling is great. Particularly in supermarkets, which i often struggle with. There is some white noise and you do occasionally feel like you’re ears have popped. The buttons are easy to get used to over time. I haven’t used many of the settings though, just on, off and phone calls.

As a pair of headphones for armchair or desk use i can’t fault the sound quality and anc operation. Unfortunately, the headband is ridiculously tight, and i only take a size 7 1/4 hat size. Also, the connectivity is disappointing. There are far too many clicks/pops as the bluetooth reconnects if i move around my office or living room. It’s ok if the phone is in my pocket, or lying on the desk, but kit in this price bracket should have at least a 3-4 metre range. I appreciate that part of the problem may lie in the phone (xaomi a2 lite) as the pause/stop/ff function won’t work with this phone, but will work with my lenovo tablet. The phone has v5 bluetooth with a2dp and hid protocols, whereas the lenovo tab 4 only has v4 with a2dp and le protocols. All in all, a bit disappointing as despite the good sound quality i get acceptable sound and better bluetooth connection in a £40 pair of wireless earbuds.

I’ve been looking for some overear bluetooth headphones for quite some time and when these came on offer i jumped at buying them. The build quality of the headphones is excellent, exactly what you come to expect from sennheiser. In fact the sound quality and noise cancelling were equally to the same high standard. The biggest sticking point for me and the reason i eventually returned the item was the fit. How the headphones positioned on my head was very uncomfortable. Along with that i found that my ears got extremely warm even after little usage. My intention for the headphone was to use for everyday work so comfort was very important to me. Overall a great product but was terrible uncomfortable for me.
