Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless In-Ear Headphones : These could be the ones!

I wish i could add an extra star for these awesome wireless in-ear headphones. They produce beautiful clear sound without any hiss, which is something i used to associate with bluetooth products. The sound quality is top notch. They come in an understated fabric covered case which doubles as a charger and batter pack. So when you are not using them you can pop them in there and they quickly charge. There are various controls by tapping the earpieces, or holding a finger against them. Could can pause, change track, alter the volume. One particularly helpful function is that you can turn on “transparent listening”, so you can hear what is going on around you at the same time as listening to your music. Ordinarily, they are rather effective at blocking out the surrounding noise. They pair with bluetooth devices quickly and easily and the battery seems to have a good lifespan between charges.

As a music-loving ‘not quite an audiophile’ i’ve been on the hunt for the perfect set of truly wireless earphones for me for a good while now. Here are my thoughts on the sennheiser momentum true wireless after just a day – some comparison to the beoplay e8s that i used to own also throw in. Highs======- oh that sound baby. 😍 the mtw absolutely stun – incredible sounding for such small devices. I’m hearing things i’ve not heard before in my old tunes. Tried out the new chemical brothers tune ‘got to keep on’ and i couldn’t stop myself doing the head-bop. The sound was alive and it sucked me in- the bass is very controlled – quite warm overall, mids and trebles are all present and correct and no sibilance. I’ve tweaked the eq on the app to get it just right for me as out of the box it’s a bit bassy or ‘muddy’ i guess. I’ve nudged the eq setting up and to the right a touch. – there is very decent soundstage and it’s easy to pick up specific instruments as there is good separation considering the in-ear and wireless constraints.

I will start by saying that the sound from these ear buds is exceptional. Once you get the right size of silicone ear cup fitted the range of tones is clear and bright and the bass is deep and rumbling whatever type of music you listen to. They are by far the best sounding small headphones i own. The bluetooth connection to my galaxy s*+ is quick and reliable. I get a range of around 10 metres around the house through walls and so on. The controls are easy to operate and respond well once you get used to the double or triple click delay. I love the talkthrough feature whereby they use a microphone on the outside of the bud to pass sound through which you can mix with the music or have without. This allows you to hear cars if you are walking or cycling by a road or talk to people whilst you are out and about without removing the buds. The microphone works well during calls and you can just use the right hand ear bud if you want to use them as a hands free kit for example. Charging is handled via a case which gives you up to 12 hours of use in 4 hour blocks and recharges via usb c.

Firstly, the sound is truly amazing. I say this after having used lots of good quality earbuds over the years, my latest being shure 315s. These just blow them out of the water. I changed brands mainly to get rid of the cable with my shures. And having used a cheap bluetooth cable i tried using the original shure plug in cable for a fairer comparison and the sennheisers were still so much better. The background hearing function is very clever and seems to work really well. I decided pretty early on just to leave it permanently on. Will have to see how it works with tube announcements. The touch controls work fine but you have to watch what you’re doing with the right one. I inadvertently activated voice control a couple of times, which is something i never use.

I’ve had a few sets of these to test recently. First off lets talk quality. . These are beautifully crafted and i love the fact the case isn’t a chrome or steel case like a lot i have tested. The chrome and steel cases get covered in finger prints. I love the fact this uses a standard usb to mini usb cable which is great as it become easier and easier to charge things. The sound quality is very good. As you’d expect from this level of cost and sennheiser’s reputation. The trebble is nice and clear with good detail. The trouble with this design is it is relying on an exceptional fir to get the bass right. This is where it loses a star for me.

I didn’t notice any lag while using it.

I purchased these with a little trepidation due to the cost implication, however once i had tried them i was blown by the sound they emit, also how comfortable they feel in the ear. The fact you have several sizes to choose from makes it very adjustable to suit most if not all ears. The charging case is a great idea if your down n the beach or around a pool all day with no access to a charging point, just pop it in its case and away you go, great innovative idea. Yes very expensive nonetheless quality never comes cheap unfortunately.Fantastic purchase really pleased.

I’ve had a pair of truly wireless earphones for the best part of a year, namely the bang & olufsen e8. While i loved their usability, their sound never managed to fully convinced me. Hence, when the sennheiser true wireless came out in november 2018, i immediately purchased them, hoping they would live up to the sound i’ve been used to from my wired ie80. To my surprise even better than my wired ie80. There is no doubt that these have the best sound i’ve ever experienced from in ears. Deep but controlled base with lots of kick, balanced mids and soft but prominent treble (my biggest gripe with the e8 is their harschness). The sound for me is beyond any doubt. The implementation of the equaliser is also much better than that for the e8. I find the touch controls rather unintuitive, though the touch recognition is very good.

I am a professional musician working in recording studios so my requirements are probably a bit unusual. For years i have been looking to ditch the bulky studio ‘cans’ and find a wireless solution. Normal bluetooth is out of the question, as delay is of the order of half a second (about 500 milliseconds). Bluetooth 5 so-called low latency is also too big at about 1/4 second. (250ms)these sennheisers are true ‘aptx low latency’ and (coupled with the right aptx-ll transmitter) are the only set that work well enough. I estimate the delay is about 25-30 ms, not perfect but good enough that i am prepared to give it a serious try. The earbuds have an app which can set various parameters, including a graphic equaliser, but it’s a bit basic. They have a transparent listening mode, but there is no adjustment and the amount of sound let through is minimal. It also seems to default to ‘off’ which is a tad annoying. Sound quality seems pretty reasonable without blowing anybodys socks off.

Having read the sound technician’s review of january i decide to treat myself to these. I have a pair if jabra elite 65t already so compared them. These are a good fit, they don’t stick out like chapel hat pegs and the sound is good, however i, as yet, cannot tell any difference between these and the jabras except perhaps the 120 quid extra for the sennheisers but as an oap perhaps my hearing isn’t as good as the technician’s. I do have a query with them however and it is the battery level when putting them in from the case they show 100% but within 5 minutes the left 100% the right 90% and after one hour the left 88% the right 60% after 3 and a half hours they stop as they say “power off”. Perhaps i’m a bit thick but the jabras show an equal amount of battery reduction (when the jabra app works) so why do these not. If anyone reads this rambling and can tell me please leave a comment at the bottom or leave an answer on amazon which would be appreciated. Sennheisers faqs don’t cover this point on their website.

I am seriously impressed with these bluetooth earbuds. You expect real quality from sennheiser, of course, but even allowing for that, these are far better than i expected. Most importantly, the sound quality of these momentum true wireless earbuds is fantastic. I have listened to a wide range of music from 16th-century choral music to modern rock with most things in between and it all sounds brilliant. There is a fine, rich bass which never booms, the sound is beautifully balanced and has crystal-clear detail. I never thought i’d be able to say this about bluetooth earbuds but they sound almost as good as both my bowers & wilkins px and v-moda crossfade 2 over-ear headphones. They come in a very stylish, very compact little case; they sit in it to charge and the case itself has a built-in battery. The whole thing charges via a usb-c cable; the earbuds have around a 4-hour duration on a full charge, but the box carries two more full charges, so there’s a total of 12 hours available between charges, which is plenty for me. The earbuds themselves are comfortable, smart and very intuitive to use by touch, and there’s a good app to control them more fully from your device.

They offer everything i require and that is great sound quality. Truly wireless and a great feature to help magnify outside noise because i use these on my bike so i can remain aware but still enjoy music. I find female vocals feel a bit harsh. I’d like to be able to get some memory foam tips though, i absolutely hate rubber tips. I have noticed some interference here and there but not enough to annoy or bother me.
