Sennheiser RS 2000 Digital Wireless TV Headphones – : Perfect

I bought these headphones for my 92 yr old mother in law who is very deaf and was having the television very loud and so the neighbours started to complain. The headphones were the perfect solution for watching tv early mornings and in the evenings. I would recommend them to anyone with a similar problem.

Great hearing quality for television especially films. I bought these for my sweetheart who finds the earpieces a tad uncomfortable but loves the stethoscope shape rather than over head band earphones.

My father is starting to go a little deaf, meaning that when he watches tv he now needs the volume a little higher than everyone else needs. This is not a problem during the day as such, but in the evening, when he tends to watch the most tv, is when this becomes an issue, especially when others are trying to sleep. These headphones form sennheiser look at little outdated in terms of design, but with a premium brand at a premium price i thought we would give these a go. The headphones come in two parts, a charging dock which doubles up as the wireless transmitter and the separate headphones with controls and receiver itself. The charging base connects to the mains and your standard headphone 3. 5mm socket in your tv through cables supplied. If you are buying this for non-uk use have no fear, there are a plethora of international standards supported, with uk, eu, us and aus supported through easily interchangeable connectors. The headphones look like a doctors stethoscope, which is a bit off putting, but the large dongle, as well as housing the batteries includes controls which i guess are easier to control due to the size. The headphones turn on when you “open” them up by pulling each ear away from each other, which is a clever way to conserve battery. Either side of the “stethoscope” like dongle in the middle are buttons to adjust the balance, perfect if you are hard of hearing in one ear in particular.

Very easy to set up and use but expensive.

I have been using these for a while now and would automatically reach for them even in bedroom. Tonal sound quality is very good and louder than my over the ear headphones. I listened to rolling stones on them. Speech is really excellent when selected. It takes a while getting used to a pair of stethoscopes dangling from your ears. As i said, sound is excellent despite the size. Just clean sound, no pops or interferencerange fills the whole flat but not outside the flat. Separate balance controls, light weighta very pleasing wear even in bed (got a tv in bedroom).

I should say at the beginning that the four stars is for the overall experience. The reason for this is that the sound from these headphones is fantastic and surprising how good it is and definitely five star quality. I tried these with a fairly budget priced tablet that i have had for ages and the results were impressive. The device seemed to be quite sensitive (more than i expected) to the level of the input signal and for me it was better with the volume down on the output device and up on the headphones. The reason for only four stars is that the weight of headphones makes it a bit intrusive to me. Maybe after a while you get used to it so bear that in mind. The base unit (and phones actually) is quite big and has to powered on in order for the unit to work. It of course acts as the charge unit. Once again we get an tome about safety giving the impression we are handling something more dangerous than a badly set up chain saw. There is a leaflet about how to operate the device which is simple.

Expensive, but worth it if you use it regularly. Far superior to other versions.

This was too heavy using it for a long time. Also it did not give me the volume i needed. My left ear is much worse than the right. This is an attractive and well designed product, and am sorry i had to return it. It was just not suitable for my needs.

For hearing loss sufferers a must.

Good quality product; holds charge as stated; sound can be adjusted to your needs; fit is slightly tight.

Have bought other headphones to wear whilst watching tv but nothing compares to my sennhieser model. Pleased no batteries required, they don’t slip off your head they hang beneath your chin wonderful well working item.

Having had a previous version of sennheiser for a number of years which gave excellent service but started to show wear, i decided to purchase the rs5000. And everything looked good and ready for use. Unfortunately when i started to use them there was a strong echo in the ear-piece sound if i had the t. Sound on and would be excellent if one only wanted to use them personally and not include another member of the family who needed a different volume to be comfortable.

Does exactly as it says, very easy to install and not awkward to wear.

Excellent for those hard of hearing or hearing aid wearers. You need a bit of knowledge to set up, you also need another tiny piece of equipment, an audio splitter (#25 pds or less) and i chose to also a box ear buds with a range of sizes are a mix of silicone and memory foam. My sennheiser has improved the quality of my tv watching enormously.

The sennheiser rs 2000 wireless tv headphones work on a really great idea – the idea that as your hearing needs change, you may find that background noise is impacting upon your ability to hear the tv as well as you used to. They are also great if you are watching tv in bed and one of you wants to sleep, whilst the other is still watching the end of a film. So, i can see that these headphones serve a good purpose, for people with those specific kind of needs. You just plug them into the power, and the aux cable into the headphone socket of your tv. It is a shame that the device does not support rca cables, or optical audio. Thus far, however, my experience was going well. Problems began as soon as i tried to listen through them. Firstly, they aren’t the most comfortable design that i have ever come across, despite the ‘ergonomic design’. I appreciate that they alleviate the temple pressure that conventional headphones place upon spectacle wearers, but the consequence of this is that the weight is now all hanging off your ears.

My existing tv headphones are also sennheiser, but of a more traditional design and about 5 years old, so i was particularly keen to try these out as i have a ‘real’ comparison. Firstly, these come with a very robust charging base and transmitter, which connects to the mains and also to a 3. 5mm stereo plug (supplied) which carries the audio input, in my case, this is from a dolby 5. 1 receiver connected to a blu-ray player. The batteries are partly charged on arrival, although i deceived to charge them fully before use. This is achieved by simply placing the base of the headphones into the slot on the transmitter, whereupon a red led charging indicator in the shape of a battery appears. When the led disappears, then the phones are fully charged. The headphones are better described as earphones as they fit similarly to pop-in phones that you might use with a portable device, except they are fixed to a retractable frame that collapses when not in use but expands to suit your head otherwise. Simply pulling apart the earphones turns them on and pushing them together deactivates them.

Sennheiser RS 2000 Digital Wireless TV Headphones – Black

These are powerful headphones, and easy to connect to the tv, laptop, or whatever else you fancy. First impressions, to be honest, aren’t great. The packaging is *really* difficult to get into, and for a device which may often be used by elderly people (my gran loves listening to the tv at ear-splitting volume) i think this needs working on. Also, the volume buttons could do with being made in a different colour, or at least with raised/embossed + and – symbols, again with more elderly people in mind. They are chunky buttons and easy to handle, but it took me a couple of moments to find them. Unlike the headphones you may be used to these dangle in your ears. They’re quite heavy and you are very aware that they are there. However, considering you’re likely to be using them sitting down, this isn’t too much of an issue. My gran who also tried them liked the security of having the headset balanced on her collarbone so she could instantly reach to turn the tv up and down rather than looking for them like she does her glasses, her hearing aid, etc. Turning off the headphones is also incredibly easy (just open and close them to turn them on/off) and very user-friendly.

These are a pair of first class sennheiser headphones designed for listening through the 3. 5mm sound source on pretty much anything despite it saying that it’s for your tv. The whole device is fairly chunky and well-designed for the elderly, physically handicapped or, like me, the generally clumsy. Like sennheiser professional equipment, the whole thing has a utilitarian matt black finish and looks more like a domestic appliance than a piece of modern domestic sound equipment. The sound isn’t ‘monitor quality’ but is coloured for home use. However the sound quality is magfnificent. I remember many years ago doing a series of courses on television equipment and learning then that television sound is very high quality but this was never reflected in the soud equipment on a tv. Well these hadphones really do bring out that sound. They’re expensive, but well worth it.

These headphones are rigid which is a shame because when they are in your ear the unit part sticks out and isn’t flexible so if you are slightly slouched it sticks out and pokes you in the chest. The part that goes into your ear are actually quite big and no cancel out external noise but i wish they were smaller. The charging dock is like a brick and i find it like having another large remote control in the room. The sound quality is good but how often really are you going to be watching a film (to make the most of the headphones) alone?.Not very often and at night because these are not flexible, it’s annoying having them stick out like twigs.

This functionality is something i have been after for a while now. Not because i am going deaf, but because i have quite a noisy house. When the mrs is talking on the phone or on skype it can be quite hard to make out what people are saying on tv without whacking everything up to neighbour-bothering levels. The headphones themselves connect to a base station via radio and the base station connects to a sound source either via a standard 3. 5mm audio jack or an optical connection, and cables for both are supplied in the box. There are all sorts of permutations, depending on what kit you have and how it is wired up. The simplest would be using an audio cable into a headphone socket, but i opted to use the digital optical cable and sound from that is beautifully clear, with a setting that will boost voices without you getting deafened whenever gunfire and explosions come along, which is quite often in the films i watch. The base station also acts as a charger for the headphones, so obviously that also needs to be plugged into the mains somewhere. Other wireless headphones i have looked at all have traditional shapes and a sort of stand for them, which would have caused issues with where to put the base – modern tv now being deep enough to put anything on top. The horizontal storage suits me very well, because i can put the base station on top of the blu ray player, underneath the tv.

Sennheiser is a name you can’t really ignore and so, when the opportunity to test these arose i was interested to see how they performed. Firstly, i have to address the size and design of these. Someone mentioned a dr’s stethoscope and they’re right. However, this is made up for by the functionality. They come with all the necessary cables and the base unit is plugged into the headphone jack on your tv. Note though that this needs to be unplugged to use the tv speakers again which is a small pain but not a dealbreaker. The volume controls are on the headset itself and are easy to operate. It’s large, rigid and clunky. The middle bit hangs down and gets in the way of your bosoms, should you be blessed with overly large ones. The earpieces feel strange to wear.

It’s a rare and wonderful gift when a product exceeds your expectations. This is one of those occasions. Before these headphones arrived i was convinced that they were going to be a naff piece of overpriced kit. The design looked weird, it would be uncomfortable, surely you wont be able to walk around with it in, it will easily fall off, etc. All of these concerns were put to bed to the point where watching tv without it is now a reduced experience. It is well known that sound form modern televisions are severely lacking. Even more expensive models whilst marginally better are still not up to scratch in the audio department. The main selling point of these is tonal. Vocal clarity, and it does that job with aplomb. No more wondering ‘what did he just say?’.

I regularly watch tv after everyone else has gone to bed, and up until now i’ve had to resort to plugging my headphones (with extra long cable) into the back of my tv to save waking the rest of the family. I looked at wireless headphones a few years ago, but they were useless to me as they relied on a bluetooth connection which none of tvs had. So it was with pleasant surprise that i discovered these sennheiser wireless headphones that used the standard 3. 5mm headphone socket to connect a docking station rather than using bluetooth. After a fairly simple setup i had finally found an answer to my problem. So this is the type of gadget i’ve been after, but how does it hold up as a product?. Well, build quality is good and the docking station provides an elegant storage solution as well as acting as a charger. Range is often an issue with wireless products – but not here. I could roam from one side of my house of the other and still receive an audio signal from a different room. Battery life is great too, i’ve been using it in the evenings for about a week so far and i still haven’t needed to recharge yet.

I have had overear headsets in the past including sennheiser, but found them to be too hot, the rs 5000 is perfect in this respect. It is also great in every other way as well.
