Bought these to replace a pair of 215’s which had a serious problem with the fragility of the cable, the plastic sheathing disintegrating in various places. I did have to replace the cable about a year ago, after dropping one of the buds into a cup of tea. In my haste to detach the bud for drying, i couldn’t detach it from the cable and tugged away with some force before figuring out you had to pinch to detach, but the damage was done. Not to the bud which dried out easily, but to the cable which i obviously damaged as the sound would drop out at regular intervals. I would stress that i tugged at it very very hard in my frustration. I replaced the cable with one which had in-line volume, pause and track controls. However, this cable had been designed for iphone/ipod and only the ‘pause’ works on my android phone. Still handy, and no reason to return. There has been no problem with the sheathing cracking up.
My second pair of in-ear shure phones and i am impressed. I had the ec2 (or e2c i forget) before and they are still going – gave them to my nephew. Initially my original pair of these se315 nozzle broke as i was trying to remove the attached default sleeve. A royal pain, but shure customer service is brilliant and they replaced it in 3 days for a new earpiece. After trying on some sleeves i settled for the white triple flange sleeves which go deep in ear, isolate and block leakage. Pretty comfortable once you get used to inserting them. The earpieces are nice, black, and they fit in flush, and the wire is the over ear type and a memory wire which you sort of fit around your ear. The cable is thick and strong and very high quality. Now to the sound, those that say this lacks bass are not wearing these properly, they have bass and lots of it without over doing it as some phones do.
These are a big upgrade from the supplied iphone ones i normally use but i wanted to get more out of the music i listen too and after lots of lots of research and reviews i went for these. What i didn’t want was overblown bass that i had heard in ones tested in a national store. If i want this i can always add it via the eq on tune shell. Initially i was going to go for the se215 due to the cost but managed to get these for under a £100 so it was a no brainer. So my thoughts after having them for a couple of weeks. The sound is superb although i am no expert on this but better than any other makes i have tested on or around the price point. I have tried a range of music styles and all are fabulous. The way they fit around the ear took a bit of getting used too but after a while you get hang of it and isn’t an issue. I love wearing them, love the feeling of quality and comfort. Love how my music is so good with them and glad i took the big step in investing.
Pair these bad boys up with a decent mp3 player and u’ve got urself a portable hi-fi. I’m using them with the cowon z2 and words cannot describe the sound quality of these puppies. Bass via the z2 is like being in a club – i’ve even had to keep the bass equalizer settings to a minimum cos it pounds that loud – u feel the sound. Have found they work best for me with the rubber tips fitted and the fit is excellent especially with the flexible clip around ear cables – very liittle unwanted movement when in the ears as there’s a pulley system to take the slack weight of the cable. Price wise, expensive but worth every penny – “shure” is the way forward for amazing sound. Raises the bar for the rest of the earphone market.
It is very loud , very comfortable and great for drummers. Slightly difficult to put in ear but apart from that awesome.
Caveat emptor: if you have an iphone with a ‘bumper’ (rubber protective cover that goes around the edge of the phone, as sold by apple) it will not be compatible with the shure se315 earphones as the plug does not reach far enough into the socket through the bumper. I did not have this problem with my old shure ‘phones (se210) as the shape of the plastic neck around the plug was different.
Great sounding in ear monitors. Detailed, with enough height and weight to make anyone happy. The real highs are not as sweet sounding as the b&w c5’s but the low end more sensible.
Great for noise reduction and in-ear monitoring on stage. Would happily recommend these headphones to any musician who needs clarity on stage.
- Great in-ear phones but
- Wow – is all I can say!!!

I love the way the cables will experience less wear and tear and the new generation of headphones sound great. They can be a bit awkward to put in your ears until you get used to the odd shape. Shure still makes the best headphones on the market for everyday use.
I love the sound quality of this product but the fit in my ear is less than perfect though i have tried a number of the fittings supplied with the product.
I have been using these for a week now, and have listened to all manner of music through them, from orchestral, to pop, to jazz, opera, choral, rock. And they have performed exactly as i had hoped they would, which is to say they play back any track exactly as the producer in the recording studio would have heard it. Every detail can be heard in any genera, so if the music calls for bass, they will providethe noise reduction is effective, although don’t expect the same “cocoon” effect as noise cancelling headphones can give. These will block out enough everyday traffic noise to allow you to listen to your music at a low volume and still notice every detail, but at the same time you will (most likely) be aware of outside noises. My only word of warning is that changing the ear buds can be very fiddly, but you only really have to do that once. All in all, an excellent product.
I spent a long time trying to decide between the se315s and the creative aurvana-3’si chose these because:a) amazon warehouse had them at 120 poundsb) you can replace the cablesinitially had swayed towards the aurvana-3, but the price drop was the final decider as i couldnt find a single review of someone who had actually listened to both and then said they would pick 1 over the other and being an in-ear product you cant exactly go down many stores and try them on for an hour or so to compare them. So my thoughts:these sound is awsome, it sounds stupid, but, the sound really seems to come from inside your head (as i said, sounds stupid considering you shove them in your ears) but at the same time is very spacious, bass is clear enough but doesnt mask any higher tones, top end is sharp as a razor. Played a few things on my mp3 player, youtube (was hunting round for different noise types and scenarios)noise cancelling: my dogs, love them (especially when asleep) decided to have a bit of a scrap i couldnt really hear them, it wasnt the scrap of a life time, but its the kind of noise that you’d have to normally shout over to stop them. So the noise isolation is very good as i wasnt even playing anything at the time. I was very pleased, will be perfect for when at work and needing to concentrate. The only thing i found was they came with a set of foam sleeves on, which i had tried and were comfy but i felt the fit could be better and frankly it would almost have been easier to remodel my ears that take those off. The picture shows pinch and twist and then pull, yeah right. The foam things try to rip and smush to something that looks like 12 yr old foam smushed it looks slightly bitty and yet wet at the same time. And i didnt want to ruin those just in case those were the “best fit” ones. But being brave i opted for the white 3 tear strange alien probe looking sleeves.
These earphones were recommended to me by my boyfriend. I got myself a pair, and wasn’t disappointed. The sound quality is incredible, and totally surrounding, you could close your eyes and imagine you were on your own desert island, wherever you are.
First thing you will notise are that these headphones look good and the build quality along with the cable is strong. A selection of buds are available to test but are very hard to take off but easy to put on, so be careful as to not break the unit while trialling the buds. The medium black buds seem to be the correct fitting but does not fully block out the outside noise as i would have preferred a slightly larger ear buds to be +90% external sound block. There is a larger black ear bud but it seems to become uncomfortable after a while but it does help with blocking out +90% of outside noise. You will notice that these headphones are very clear and precise with the mid and highs, though they lack that thumpy low level base, i have an mp3 player wich allows me to change the sound via bbe sound processor which helps it to give that extra base. As the reviews say, this is a well balanced single driver in-ear headphone but for the base, you should utilise your players sound processor to give it some low level. One annoying factor is, putting on the headphone will take you around 30 seconds plus once you get used to it, longer when you are trying it for the first time. They do blend in to your ear which prevents you looking out of place as it does not petrude out like the monster beats.
Great headphones but expensive for single driver.
Firstly, great service and very speedy delivery from the seller. Now the earphones themselves. When looking for a decent set of in-ear headphones i spent a lot of time reading reviews here, there and everywhere. The one thing i noticed was that although there were very few reviews for the shure se315’s, i could not find a negative one. Having looked around, i finally settled on the shure’s and placed my order. I am very, very happy with both the build and sound quality of these earphones. They feel very sturdy and the solid in the hand. One thing that should be pointed out is the the length of the cable is longer that any other earphones i owned before but this is not a bad thing, just something to be aware of. The cable is strong and appears to be reinforced in the correct and often problematic areas such as the jack point, the splitting point and where the cable meets the buds themselves.
- Great in-ear phones but
- Wow – is all I can say!!!
Shure SE315-K Sound Isolating Earphones with Single High Definition MicroDriver and Tuned BassPort
I’m not going to get massively into the sound quality. The rest of the reviews here are testament to how fantastic these earphones are both in range and depth. If your music collection is electronic and descent digital quality then don’t think twice. My only issue with shure products is that a pair of shure se210s became faulty after a few months, and these (very kindly upgraded by shure’s warranty service) are now developing a fault. The sound of the right ear piece goes whenever i turn my head to the left strangely enough. And to be perfectly honest, i have been very careful with these from day one. If i’m not wearing them, they get neatly wrapped up and tucked away in their pouch. I don’t abuse them or yank them, and never have. I’m now in the process of getting another pair as a replacement as i’m still covered by the 2 year warranty of the original purchase. And while the shure people are very nice and accommodating, the hassle is a little irritating :-(.
Build quality on these shure’s feel great, you can replace the wire god forbid it breaks which is a great feature and offers great oppotunities. Specially given that shure headphone wires tend always break. Having said that, this wire is better designed than previous models. My only two gripes are removing the ear buds, for some reason i can’t get them off unlike my friends which are easy. And the sound can be compromised if you smile, or atleast for me, if i smile, the headphones take a different position in which it can effect the sound. I’ve paired these phone’s up with a cowon and the sound is just superb, truly a joy and worth spending the extra money on great phones. They have a very similar sound to the philips she9850 for around £80, but these provid that little bit more in sound, a more warmer sound and not quite as harsh as the philips with the highs. These are in my opinion well worth the money and would recommend these, however the bass isn’t quite as brain shaking as most sennhiesers, specially using an ipod/iphone. They have an ok bass when paired with ippod/iphone but if you really want to enjoy these, get your self a better mp3 player to truly understand why these are great. Also, when used with a good mp3 player, the bass more than doubles providing heavy bass without muffling the sound which is great.
Best headphones i have ever owned even though it cost me my savings.
Awesome sound and isolating is amazing.
I bought these and was then a little worried as i’d read about a lack of bass. Now i’ve used them to listen to a wide array of music and must say that the bass is fine with my ipod touch. Its not pounding but i think any more could detract from the absolutely amazing clarity of the sound these provide. Great product and compared to other headphones in this price range (such as the beats range by monster which we have in our store and i have tried out to great dissapointment) these come out, for me, amongst the best.
Let them burn in for a week or two and they’re superb with a wonderful, rounded natural sound. Not for bass nuts admitedly, but if you want to hear rather the music as it should sound rather than thudding artificially, these are the business. But if you really want to experience the best from them on an apple iphone or ipod, i highly recommend coupling them with the fiio e5 amp to make them sing, so be sure to add the fiio e05 headphone amplifier and fiio l3 line out dock cable for ipod, iphone, ipad to your order.
