ViewSonic LightStream PJD7828HDL Full HD 1080p Home Cinema Projector : So far no issues – great picture. Bught it to replace an old Sony

I went for this projector due to the positive reviews but have just realised that they are for the pro version not the one advertised. The replacement came to today because the first unit’s bulb kept switching off. I think i’ll be returning both as i was mislead with the features advertised and found the unit too noisy.

Nice projector for a sub £500 one, delivers a decent watchable picture and easy to setup with a nice throw range. It not as sharp as a higher priced projector or as rich in colour so bare that in mind. But if its budget one you want this beats most i have seen on the market.

I had the model before previously, it lasted 3 years then developed a fault. So got this newer model and its great, 3 meters covers my whole wall. Clear picture, strong colours. I use this every day for tv and gaming.

Excellent projector good quality colour easier to use menu and easy setup i don’t have anything bad to say about this product.

I bought this unit to watch movies, and after some research i definitely made the right choice. There are cheaper units you can buy but believe me, the image quality just is not the same as this. For one thing – native 1080p is a must, not other units are 720p and scale 1080p down. This unit is 1080p ative and it makes a difference. Second is the stellar contrast ratio of 20,000:1, where darks are very dark and whites are very bright indeed. I noticed no colour banding myself which is great as well. Some people have mentioned the fan noise, which i didnt think was intrusive at all. At normal mode the fan is at its loudest, where the brightness is maxed out and lamp life is at its lowest. You can switch between eco and super eco modes as well, which reduce the brightness slightly but slow the fan down drastically which is great. For movies i use normal mode, sacrificing lamp lide and fan noise for quality.

Been very pleased with this purchase. Having not used an up to date projector i have been very impressed with picture quality. For my occasional use for big screen movie use i am glad i didn’t spend out any more than this.

This thing has been around for over 3 years, yet still sells loads. I’m not an expert, just an average tech lover so please keep that in mind as i give my findings. Over the last 2 weeks i’ve tested a few projectors, all with the aim of bedroom use or occasional front room use. Now this viewsonic lightstream pro7827hd has a great sharp and fully adjustable picture out of the box. Very clear and no fuzzy text at all. Sound was loud via the fire stick on even the first volume setting of 1. Menu does seem very dated compared to other projectors, even their own m1 mobile projector. I was able to project this from about 9ft at 120 inches. I’ve barely made any changes, so props for that.

Bought this as my first projector and this is really good quality, image is grate, of course not as great as a 4k tv but the immersion is totally different. I’ve used the speaker on the projector for a wild till i bought a thx sound system and this is insane. I do re-discover all the movies i do like in a different way. Much better than cinema, at list you don’t have the person who speak, you can drink and eat what do you want. Also good during the day but for sure you don’t want to watch any movies with daylight.

Way better than the optima, and it hasn’t randomly imploded yet.

The best value for money high end full hd projector available in the market.

Well i waited to leave this review until i had tried out the 3d feature on this projector , i ordered some of the £35 hi-shock dlp 3d glasses that are for sale on amazon , and i have to say it is by far the best home 3d experience ive ever had , it was amazing and works fantastic , and i had none of the normal eye strain that normally comes with watching 3d films i cannot wait to watch another ,this projector is a very good one on a budget , before this projector i had the eug 5000 lumans hd projector , it was absolute rubbish , this projector states it is only 3200 lumans but is at the very least double the brightness and the colour is nice and bright and vivid ,i highly recommend this product , do not waste your money on eug projectors , the information on them is fake.

So far no issues – great picture. Bught it to replace an old sony projector that was just too small an image for training purposes. Only down side is it would have been nice if supplied with a carry case but i guess really its intended for home use.

Have installed it on a bar for sports viewing. Customers say it is better than a tv. Brilliantly clear and bright.

Had the pro7827hd for over a year now and use it every night really good quality picture, the projector sound is ok, better than most projectors, but goes great with a nice sound system. I can whole heartedly recommend this projector, replacement bulbs are about £160ish but i have not needed one yet.

Using this for home cinema and occasional tv, 6 nations rugby etc. 3d is fantastic, no crosstalk, crisp clean brilliant, thor ragnarok, guardians of the galaxy 2, flawless. Shows limitations of the signal used for a lot of cable tv but hd stuff is great. Only tiny thing is the fan is noticeable in quiet bits if you listen for it but not an issue. I have a sizeable av setup so just turn that up a notch. Inbuilt speaker ok i guess for presentation but get a 5. 1 (or bigger) system round it and it’s true home cinema.

Had this projector for some time now and really like it. Only downside is a slightly noisy fan, although you tune this out reasonably quickly. Picture is brilliant and 3d looks amazing. Projecting onto painted wall gives very good results. The major plus for this projector is the different positions you can use it from, e. You can project from the side of where you are sitting and still get an excellent picture.

ViewSonic LightStream PJD7828HDL Full HD 1080p Home Cinema Projector (3200 Lumens, SuperColor, 3D HDMI, Speakers) White

What with it being the euros and olympics this year, i thought i’d finally take the plunge and invest in a projector for my living room. Having done quite a bit of research, i established that an important feature for good colour reproduction is something called rec. With this in mind, i narrowed it down to the viewsonic pro7827 and benq w2000. The price difference between the 2 was quite surprising (viewsonic being a lot cheaper) for what appeared to be a very similar set of features. Both were recommended on projector-central and having already bought a viewsonic projector for my office, i thought i would use them again as i’ve had no complaints so far. I have the projector connected to my sky box & i have not been disappointed as the picture quality is fantastic and the colours are equal to, if not better than my sony hdtv. A nice additional touch is a hidden hdmi at the front which i use for my wireless streaming dongle.

Easy to use, good picture and brightness.

This is the second one i have had in the last 15 months. The first blew up after 15 months use, about 2000 hours. I suspect the power supply or circuit board failed blowing the bulb into shards of glass. The supplier of the first one, just projectors, were spectacularly unhelpful and instead tried to sell me an optima projector which was horrible. I had enormous difficulty in sourcing a native bulb or a bulb and housing complete and after two months i gave up and ordered this one from amazon. So far very good: good bright picture with great contrast out of the box in the dark or with lights on. At least this time i have a spare bulb but if it is a component issue the cost of repair is huge, even supposing spares can be found. Viewsonic have a terrible reputation for customer services without any apparent uk base.

I have connected this projector to a nvidia quadro k5200 (using a displayport to hdmi converter) and i’m surprise to notice that i’m able to push 12bit signal to this projector. (i can see it on nvidia control panel). For testing i’m also using a 10bit test ramp on photoshop which show bending when displayed at 8bit (on the same projector) and absolutely no banding when the signal path is brought back to 12bit settings. To confirm i also have an hp z27x monitor which has a 10bit panel and the test ramp behave the same. I’m quite impressed that this projector is able to take advantage of 12bit colour per component. Is not a feature that i aspect at this price; amazing.

Ditching a tv and going for a projector in an open plan flat is definitely the way forward. I still have not got around to organising a bluetooth speaker as the sound quality from the projector itself is very good, i will at some point, but not a necessity.

This is the way to watch high definition media at home. I’ve tested this using a 100 inch screen and the picture quality just blows me away. Set up is very simple and i have it connected to multiple inputs which switched seamlessly using the remote control – batteries included – the most complex of which is my windows 10 pc. Now my graphics card was top of the mid range three years ago when i bought my pc, and gives 1080p as standard. I thought it would struggle to scale the image up through a projector, but no. Note here that to get the best of streamed hd content from services like bbc iplayer you will need a decent internet speed. While amazon prime movies look crisp and clear all the way through, iplayer let buffering hurt the picture quality noticeably through this, to the point that it was annoying. I also noticed one or two artefacts from fast moving images, but only when the buffering was kicking in and there was degradation of the picture quality as a result.

Dont have a lot to compare it too, but i am just blown away. Bright enough to watch in ambient light and color-reproduction is very good. Hmb – have to re-watch every movie ive ever seen because it is just such a different experience seeing them so large.

The lightstream projector is what i was waiting for. I have been looking for a projector that would give me the right look on the screen as i do a lot of presentations, now i am satisfied i found the right one.

Boasting extensive connectivity and high-quality image projection at a very reasonable price, the viewsonic lightstream pro7827hd is an excellent home cinema projector capable of wowing viewers with its crisp images, high contrast levels and rich colour rendition. The device is reassuringly easy to set up, with out-of-the-box settings doing a decent enough job of getting the user up and running in around a minute including warm-up time. Horizontal and vertical keystone correction is a doddle thanks to an intuitive remote, meaning images can be sized and oriented in a few seconds. The projection area can be raised and lowered slightly using controls on the device, though this range is perhaps less than some might prefer. The viewsonic’s images do all the talking. The clarity, brightness and evenness of the projected visuals are all first-rate thanks to a 22,000:1 contrast ratio and flawless focal performance. 1080p hd images are rendered beautifully even at large sizes – ours was tested at 66-inches which the short throw lens deals with admirably – with a depth of colour that impressed throughout. Moving scenes maintain their crispness well, meaning gaming is not just possible but enjoyable, courtesy of outstanding brightness and consistent focus from the zoom lens. Black levels are decent yet unspectacular, and are mostly compensated for by great contrast levels and splendid image reproduction. Possessing multiple hdmi, usb and srgb input options, the lightstream pro demonstrates a high degree of versatility, and performs well at all those functions, meaning it is a great all-rounder for home or office.

I’ve had the pjd7720hd full hd home cinema projector for about 3 weeks now- so far it is amazing (but i’ll aim to update my review after 6 months). I was thinking for a long time which projector to pick and at first considered the much more expensive laser projectors. However, i decided to give the viewsonic a go and this was a very good decision. The projector is very easy to set up. I use it on a cream wall and image looks beautiful even in super eco mode (so i mainly use the super eco mode). Surprisingly, pjd7720hd has also a very good speaker. I was thinking of buying a sound system but with this one i don’t really need to. To summarise, the main perks are: very good value for money, bright with a nice colour range (you can have a good picture quality with ambient light so perfect for casual home cinema), a decent speaker, 3d function (i didn’t use it yet), smart design. The things that you might want improved: this projector model doesn’t have a short throw function, which is a main minus for me living in a small flat; you can hear the fan (but as soon as you play a movie- you can’t really spot it); apart from that -really great experience. I will be revisiting after 6 months to give you an update.

Best projector i’ve owned by far. I found the rec709 setting to be stunning projecting a 120 inch image. Highly recommended at every level.

On the whole i like this projector very much. You may ask why only 3 stars then?. I have limited space at home and this is one of the few players, according to their specs, that will fit the throw. I did not want a “short” throw, and this one read just about perfect. When i came to set it up it’s obvious that they have the specifications wrong. I have 132″ between the lens and the screen. This projector is supposed to fall smack in the middle of this measurement. Instead i have it on full out zoom and it still doesn’t quite fill my 100″ screen. I am only talking a couple of inches either side but it’s still wrong. On the plus side it’s bright, very clear and has vibrant colours.

I’ve had the unit just over 12 months. The unit was easy to install on a ceiling mount, and a little harder to configure – although this is my first projector. I have the projector paired with a sony bdv-e2100 cinema system which gives us access to dvd, blu-ray and netflix, and others which we don’t use. The unit is some 2 1/2 metres from our 120′ screen. The picture quality is good, with nice colours, but we have never been able to get a sharp picture. The 3d on the projector is far better than we ever expected – we are sold on 3d movies. Sound quality doesn’t come into it as it is played at source. The unit loses two stars for the after sales, (amazon as usual have been wonderful) at viewsonic and their really poor quality remote control, which they only give 3 months guarantee. After more than 10 emails and 5 phones, i finally got offered a replacement remote control at £36 and would only accept payment by bank transfer (another £15 for me) making it too expensive to purchase an original – $24. 99 for our american cousins online, not available in europe.

–packaging–something that both amazon and viewsonic are often great about is their packaging and protection of products on route. This was no different, inside of multiple layer of protection which were both cardboard and foam is a well protected projector. The projector in no way touches the outer boxes and it sits within a foam frame, around which is place for the included cables, cable management and quick start guide as well as remote. –design–following suit from previous models in viewsonic’s lightstream range this projector has a brushed dark grey (almost black) colour, almost all the ports are at the rear like most projectors and are well covered / protected when the cable management is on. The cable management allows for cables to be routed either left, right or down making it perfect for any setup. The on projector controls are full buttons instead of temperamental touch style buttons. As well as the standard focusing lens you also have the ability to lens shift with a dial, this is view handy and helps when you’re trying to project at an odd angle but of course you also have to projection tilt buttons too. As far as rear inputs this projector has a large array making it perfect for your home cinema setup. Dual audio in, single audio out, s-video, video, 5v standard usb (perfect for powering a google chromecast or amazon firestick), dual hdmi ports (one of which supports mhl), vga in, vga out, mini usb and a rs-232. Advertised as a 1080p home entertainment projector and with this wonderful design, features and ports it’s perfect for any setup but with the rec.

Tested this using an xbox one via hdmi and wow – projectors have come a long way since my school days when they were noisy, washed out and needed countless bulb replacements. The picture quality is absolutely stunning even on default settings – i keep it on eco mode to preserve the bulb life. 1 bonus is the full hd – there are two hdmi ports on the rear and one hidden behind a cover that i was able to hide my chromecast in – it even has a usb port for this purpose. Initially i set it up to about 100 inch on a white wall. This started hurting my eyes a bit so i reduced it to 60 on a portable screen. Even then the picture was unreal – gaming was exceptional with no lag at all – playing modern warfare 3 i felt like i was there in the mapsound quality leaves a little to be desired but that is to be expected with the size of the unit – external speakers are recommended. The fan is noticeable but not overly loud even after hours of constant use. The included remote is incredibly handy and even includes a lazer pointer for use with presentations etc. Setup was incredibly straightforward for novice users but the picture can be customised to your needs, much like a tv set. The same applies for sound but i found the volume options a bit limiting – 1 seems too loud for late night listening.

This projector has met all my expectations. A perfect picture even in daylight. There was one problem with the hdmi function which i informed them about. They sent a courier to collect the machine and now i am waiting for them to return it with the problem resolved.

This is a fantastic projector with lots going for it and very impressive for the money. I got this to use as a free-standing projector for parties etc. To project movies onto the wall. I have taken a photo of the box and also the contents of the box (see below). It comes with a uk and and a european plug lead. Also provided with a 9-pin computer cable and a remote control. It has a special back piece which can be used if ceiling mounted to hide all the cabling at the back. It has a fantastic picture quality. The colours are vibrant and clear even in eco mode.

Firstly nobody buys a projector for the speaker’s theses were useable but nothing special. Connected mine to a external speaker after 5minutes. The picture quality and brightness are great, its watchable in daylight and like a 200inch 1080p tv in the dark)only negative was the delivery they used dpd (check their reviews on trust pilot) the delivery experience was horrible.
